About Minnie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Minnie
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Was found at a local caravan park. No one came forward to claim her so she came into care with SAFE Esperance.
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
General breed traits: Even though they look tough they are affectionate and loving dogs with family - known as Nanny dogs they are great with children if brought up with them correctly. They love to be with their people and do not cope with being alone; with you they are happy, therefore they are not outside dogs. They are energetic and need a really good work out every day. Early training is essential with this breed especially consistent and positive socialisation with other dogs. Bold, intelligent, reliable, and loyal, this breed is not for novice owners.
ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, obedient, sweet and playful!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Minnie loves to get out and about for a gentle walk and loves to play, although play needs to be gentle and controlled due to arthritis. She also loves her chew toys.
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and dog-savvy cats after gentle, supervised introductions. She lives with several small breed dogs in care and is very happy in their company.
HEALTH: Minnie is in good general health but she had a broken front leg as a young dog which was plated and pinned. When Minnie came into care she was uncomfortable on this leg so the plate and pins were removed. This has helped her comfort but she has been left with arthritis in the leg which is now supported with daily medication. It is important that Minnie continues with this medication and does not over exercise the leg which can then become painful.
GENERAL INFO: Minnie is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be around people and laps up attention. She walks well on the lead, is housetrained and knows a couple of commands. She doesn't like to be left alone for any length of time though, and has been known to tip her foster carers' bin up and break into the pantry to show her displeasure. She has the most expressive eyes and biggest smile and looks at you with true devotion.
ESSENTIALS for Minnie:
- A quiet adult home where someone is there for most of the day or can take her with them when they go out as she's a typical Staffy and loves to be with her people.
- Gentle daily exercise, taking into account her previous injury.
- A well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore.
- She needs to be allowed inside or out as she chooses, to sleep inside at night and be included as part of the family.
- She can live with another laid back dog as long as it doesn't encourage her to play too much.
- Loads and loads of love and attention!
If Minnie sounds like the perfect girl for you, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
