About Kelsi
Kelsi’s beginnings at the Refuge were somewhat challenging for her. Surrendered to us, Kelsi found herself being removed from her world of normality, her safe bubble that she called home, to a new and strange environment that can sometimes be so over stimulating for some dogs, that they shut down. Not having the necessary social skills to cope with the changes, Kelsi became fear reactive, retreating to the back of her pen and barking at anything that she perceived as a threat. It was her way of telling us she needed space and time to deal with all these new stresses in her life. Most of us have experienced some form of fear; it can be crippling and everyone deals with fear in their own way. Dogs are no different.
Over time and with lots of gradual TLC, Miss Kelsi’s confidence and trust circle has grown as she has become more familiar with the staff and volunteers. As you can see from the videos, this little legend is a clever girl who shows great focus during enrichment activities and aims to please, which makes her very trainable. She loves her rope and ball play, gets delightful pleasure from conquering the hose spray and enjoys her treasure hunts for food. She is an affectionate young girl who has thrived with positive reinforcement. Miss Kelsi’s special someone will need be patient and have the time to continue growing her confidence and social skills by slowly exposing her to new environments and experiences. Someone who is willing to be a calm guiding influence in her life and appreciate that Kelsi’s journey cannot be rushed. ”
❤
Kelsi is a 21 month old Kelpie cross that is looking for a forever home to call her own!She is a gorgeous girl that would love space to run around, loves to play with toys but will need ones she can’t chew through easily and she absolutely loves water. She will also need secure high fencing and plenty of stimulation. No young children but teenagers might be acceptable. Will sit for a treat & is a patient girl and can be an absolute goofball when she gets comfortable with you.
❤️
Because Kelsi doesn’t really like strangers at first, she might not be a love at first kinda girl until she gets comfortable with that person/people. So for anyone that may be interested in this beautiful girl must be willing to come out & visit her regularly for her to get comfortable and familiar before going to her new home. Kelsi’s adoption fee is $315 and she will come desexed, registered with the local council, microchipped, up to date vaccinations and parasite treated.
