About Stuart
š±š± $50 adoption fee š±š±
Thereās no doubt that life has thrown some pretty big challenges Stuartās way. But this plucky boy handles everything as best he can.
Born deaf, with a deformed left hind leg and with three vertebrae fused in his lower spine, Stuart stood out from his litter mates right away. It was obvious that this adorable little guy was going to need special care to help him live his best life.
Fast forward a few years and Stuart is now looking for a special home to help him through the next stages of his life. Stuartās adoptive family need to move overseas for work, and they know this boy would not be able to cope with the flight and all it would entail. So Stuart needs to stay in Melbourne and find a new family to love him.
Stuart is a nervous boy ā weāre not sure if it is because of his disabilities (see medical notes for more details) or whether heās just a nervous little lad in general. Stuart needs to be introduced to new things slowly and he has a few quirky phobias (balloons and fluro colours such as hi-viz vests in particular) so he needs a dedicated ācat personā who understands this and can help him navigate this.
Stuartās reactions to fear is quite dramatic, when he is not on his medication. He tends to find a place to hide away, and he will shiver with fear. Because of this, Stuart is on anxiety medication*, which does help to keep him calm and helps manage his physical disabilities at the same time.
In return for your love and care, Stuart will show you his funny personality. He loves to jump up and push things off tables, he gets the zoomies, he loves to supervise his humans when they shower or use the bathroom and he attacks pens whenever he finds them. While he will take more time than most cats to settle in (you will need to be patient with him), Stuart will get used to his new surroundings at his pace.
Stuart enjoys snuggling on the blanket with his humans of an evening. He is very funny once he settles in and gives lovely head bops, although his aim is a bit off and he usually head bops the air next to your face.
Stuart would do best being the only kitty in the home, which would need to be a relatively quiet home. He would be great for a single person living alone or a couple wanting to bring out the best in a cat in need. Stuart will bond with a child/children when introduced slowly and when he learns to trust them.
Being a white cat and with disabilities, Stuart needs to be an indoors only cat. He used to like dogs however he has not been in a home with one for some time so we do not recommend he go to a home with a dog.
Unfortunately with all of his skeletal issues, itās not really a matter of fixing anything ā Stuart just needs his life to remain as comfortable and happy as possible.
It is a big ask, we know, and eventually Stuartās person may have to make a hard decision about his quality of life. But for now and the foreseeable future, Stuart deserves to live a life where he is loved and treasured for the brave little kitty that he is.

Medical notes
Stuart was born deaf and with a congenital deformity of his rear left leg.
Stuart needs to take a 1/4 tablet of Clomav* 20mg, once every second day. This helps with his nervousness and also with his physical abilities. One bottle of these tablets lasts more than 200 days, and he is an easy cat to medicate.
For his osteo issues, Stuart needs to have Meloximav (an anti-inflammatory) on hand, in case he appears a bit sore at times. However he has not needed this medication for months. It is given in liquid form and Stuart loves it so much he just licks it straight from the syringe.
Stuart also has luxating patellas (loose kneecaps), which means it may cause him a little discomfort from time to time.
We can provide Stuartās full medical records to potential adopters, and we are happy to discuss any questions you may have about him. Some medication will be provided with him on adoption.
