About Pickles
**Videos included on my profile!**
Prepare to fall head over heels for this big, beautiful and goofy boy!
Pickles is a sweet and affectionate dog. His favourite things in life are Squeaky Toys, Food and Walkies! He needs a calm and peaceful adult home where he has a routine and to be the centre of someone's world. His perfect match would be a retired or semi-retired person/couple in the outer suburbs who are looking for a companion to enjoy a simple quiet life with!
When Pickles' previous owner decided he no longer wanted him, he was dumped in the bush and left to fend for himself. When the ranger found him he was very shy and emaciated. Despite this, he has proven to be smoochy, loyal, obedient and eager to please.
He walks very well on lead and doesn't need to go far to be satisfied - 20/30 minutes where he can sniff to his heart's content and he'll happily return home and snooze the day away. Be prepared for a fan-base wherever you go; Pickles is so striking he often gets stopped in the street by admirers!
We're looking for a home without other animals for Pickles. While he does get along really well with most dogs he's been properly introduced to, he can get overwhelmed and jealous resulting in him becoming cranky towards them at times. He could benefit from ongoing socialisation in a controlled manner such as day care or obedience school to build his confidence (the dog park would be too much for this sensitive soul).
Pickles does have some anxiety issues due to his past, but with daily medication and training he has totally transformed. He is fine to be left home alone where needed (but would prefer someone home more often than not) and can be trusted inside not to chew on anything that doesn't belong to him.
No apartments for this boy please, he needs space and a yard to sun-bake in and roll on the lawn.
Medical notes
Pickles is on a daily dose of Fluoxetine which must be continued. Fluoxetine is an anxiety medication which cannot be stopped suddenly, it must be weaned off gradually under veterinary advice. The cost of this medications is roughly $20 per month.
