About Roca
Roca is a handsome snuggle bug who is looking for a retirement home where he can get lots of love and cuddles. The most common place to find him in his foster home is next to you on the couch or in his foster carer’s laps. Roca is a confident and happy dog – nothing much phases him. He loves going on his daily walks and meeting everyone who will give him some attention out and about. Big kids, little kids, babies, adults – it doesn’t matter who it is – he is happy to make friends with them in a polite and calm way.
Roca’s social nature extends to other dogs. He is happy to say hi to other dogs he meets out and about. Roca is not looking to play with other dogs though. He would be happy to live by himself or with another quiet and calm friend. Roca is just under 10kg in weight and has a non-shedding coat. This means that his owners will need to be committed to regular grooming regimes at home to stop matting and having him professionally groomed regularly. He is very well-behaved in relation to all of his grooming needs. Despite his older age, Roca thoroughly enjoys his daily walks and will keep travelling along for quite a decent length of time. We wouldn’t refer to him as active though as he spends most of his day just chilling.
Roca came with no basic training but has brushed up all his skills while in foster care. He can now sit, down (lay down), come when called and go outside on command. He was not toilet trained when arriving but now will take himself outside without prompting. A new owner has to realise he may have a couple of accidents while he settles into a new environment. Roca sleeps in a crate at night in his foster carer’s bedroom and will sleep through the night. He also travels well in the car, happily lying down in the backseat.
When Roca came into care he had skin and ear inflammatory issues that have been treated and settled down. However, a new owner needs to expect that these issues may arise again in the future and require additional medical treatment. Roca is also mostly deaf but this is not having any visible effect on his life. Besides these things, his blood work shows that he is a healthy dog for his age. His new owners could further enhance his care and longevity by adding a joint supplement to his diet such as Antinol Rapid or Rose Hip Vital.
We are looking for a dog savvy family where someone is home most of the time as he loves the company. Any other pets in the house should be fine as long as they are quiet and calmer. He does not seem to care about bush turkeys or birds he sees out on his walks. Roca needs to be an inside dog with access to an outside toileting area. He will require a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. Even though he is good with children, we are looking for a quieter home for him without kids. Visiting children would not be an issue though.
If you think Roca will get enough cuddles in your home and you can meet his needs then please complete a dog adoption enquiry form on the Fetching Dogs website to apply.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
