About Spud
Potato by name, couch-potato by nature.
4-year-old Spud is ready to find his forever home and wants to know if your couch is ready for a long-term potato on it?
Spud is currently living in an apartment and the hipster life seems to suit him quite well. Spud loves walks where he gracefully receives compliments for his good looks and stylish dog coats. He adores treats and is very motivated by food. Spud loves to chase treats down the hallway and is pretty good at catching them too. He also appreciates a good ear or chin scritch.
In the beginning, city noises could make Spud a little nervous on walks and he would sometimes freeze. But his confidence has grown, and he now loves his local neighbourhood, and we think he won’t take long to adjust to his new hood. He’s just not a fan of noisy groups of teenagers!
Spud is not reactive to other dogs on walks however he has not had opportunity to socialise off-leash. Spud is happy to continue being an only dog or he could potentially go to a home with another friendly large or medium breed, pending introductions. Spud has been friendly when introduced to children on walks however has not had any opportunity to interact with them in the home.
Spud’s foster carers work from home, so he has only been left alone for a couple of hours at a time. He does get a bit sad when one of his humans goes out, and Spud would prefer a home where his humans are around a lot and can continue to introduce him to ‘alone time’ slowly. Spud is an expert “snoopervisor” and will often poke his head in the office to see that his humans are working hard to buy him more treats.
Spud is a clever boy and has mastered several basic cues: “stay” (before getting a treat or meal), “go” (to start eating, and his favourite – “good boy”. He is mostly house-trained but occasionally has a little accident and we are continuing his training for this (almost there!).
Spud’s ideal home will allow dogs on the couch. He is good in an apartment provided he gets to go out for regular walks and bathroom breaks, although we’re sure he wouldn’t mind a backyard to play in either!
If you think Spud would be the perfect couch-warmer for your home, please send us an email at adopt@amazinggreys.com.au
