About Byron
This cutie pie Byron has begun the search for his forever family!
This adorable love muffin is just over 1 year old and adores all of the attention to be on him.
He is super playful, loves belly rubs and just adores curling up in someone’s lap after a good play date!
Byron would suit a wide range of family homes, including other pets. He hasnt had too much exposure to dogs, but would adjust well with a friendly pooch! He is a very social little man and just loves to explore his surroundings!
Bryons adoption fee helps to cover his desexing surgery and microchip. He will go to his new home up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.
Medical notes
Byron is needing to undergo a surgery called a perineal urethrostomy (sometimes referred to as a PU) prior to adoption.
PU is a surgical procedure that is most commonly performed on male cats with urinary obstruction, in Byrons case, Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD).
This procedure removes the narrowest part of the urethra (the tube that transports the urine from the bladder to the exterior of the body), allowing easier urination with a lower risk of reobstruction.
With appropriate pre-surgical stabilization, surgical technique, and aftercare, the prognosis for patients with perineal urethrostomy is good. Occasionally, a stone may form that is too large to pass through the urethrostomy opening; however, this is uncommon and most cats do not reobstruct after a perineal urethrostomy.
