About Soldier ~ 5yr Old Jack Russell X(On Trial26/08/21)
Soldier is a 5 year old male Jack Russell Terrier Cross. (We have nicknamed him Roger.) He weighs in at around 9kg. He is typical of his breed and is energetic, intelligent and athletic. He is very lively and requires full participation in the family, with vigorous daily exercise, whether that be walking or joining you on a run. He is friendly with a gentle nature that will win you over immediately. He has come to us from a very loving home environment and has been very well looked after.
He is most happy when given companionship, a lot of exercise, and a job to do. Games and adventures are also essential to keep him stimulated and happy. He is very attentive and will look you in the eye to try to understand your conversation. He does enjoy down time as well, and gives the most incredible cuddles as he snuggles into you on the lounge day or night.
He enjoys his 40 minute morning and afternoon walks, but needs continued training on the lead as he is so excited to be out and about, but settles by the end of the walk. He is in the process of learning to come, and will sit and shake hands on command and sit for his dinner.
He enjoys meeting other dogs and if they are up to it will play and wrestle. He was the only dog at his previous home but he presently lives happily with our female 2 year old spaniel who has an easy going gentle nature and he mixes well with our sons Border Collie who visits us often. We take him for runs on the beach on a long rope which gives him the freedom to run with the bigger dogs.
A large fenced yard would be ideal which would allow him to run and explore and satisfy his urge to hunt. He is extremely alert and makes a keen watchdog. He sounds the alarm when something is wrong or joins in happily when the other dogs bark but then settles.
He has no issues travelling in the car where he is secured on the back seat. His coat is low maintenance and only requires a weekly brushing to keep the shedding to a minimum.
He sleeps inside, in his crate at night, and is house trained. He is proficient at using the dog door during the day but does not have access to outside at night.
Soldier is the perfect companion for an active/busy family with older children or an active individual/couple who would be willing to give him all his necessary requirements and continue with his training. He would benefit from an experienced dog owner to match his strong personality and cheeky nature.
This little boy will return the love and devotion in bucket loads and will become an awesome part of your family. He is not the breed for you if you expect him to sit on the couch all day or spend long hours at home on his own.
Soldier is in foster care in Valentine, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle), and is not available for adoption interstate. To enquire or know more, email his carer Vicki on vickivalo119@gmail.com
Soldier's adoption fee is $600 and he is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms.
