About Alfie
PLEASE READ FULL BIO CAREFULLY!!!!!!
THIS LITTLE GUY IS SUPER CUTE , BUT, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CAREFULLY READ HIS BIO AND PLEASE ONLY ENQUIRE IF YOU CAN TRUELY MEET HIS NEEDS.
The lovely Alfie has found himself looking once again for his forever home. This special boy has so much to offer a loving family, but he also has some very special needs that are necessary in this new home in order to make him happy.
Alfie is very social with other dogs so he’s no issue on lead, he loves a walk, has great recall, and is no issue at the dog park either, if anything he’s a little timid around larger dogs.
Having said that, what he would love at home, is to the king of the castle, he would love to be an only animal ( he has been trialled with a cat and it was not a success). He has a tendency to guard his humans and sometimes his toys. He does love to snuggle in your lap, he likes men and women, and when relaxed, he’ll snooze in your arms all evening.
Alfie is a good boy, however the small world that he came from with his previous owner has left him with some issues. Alfie is very uncertain being bathed and groomed, his original owner had always had him sedated at their vets for grooms as needed. He has gotten used to some brushing and having his eyes cleaned daily, but he is still very unsure and will need more encouragement and time and patience from his new owner to continue this progress.
This is a list of must haves and big no no’s that are important in Alfie’s next home.
THE NO LIST
NO CHILDREN
NO OTHER PETS
——————————————-
THE MUST HAVE LIST
EXPERIENCED DOG OWNER/OWNERS ( when very scared, he may snap)
OWNER OR OWNERS THAT TRUELY HAVE TIME FOR THIS SPECIAL BOY, WHO DO NOT WORK AWAY FROM HOME FULL TIME , AND ARE PATIENT
YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT SEDATED GROOMING 4 TIMES A YEAR, THIS IS NOT OVERLY EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO REGULAR 8 WEEK GROOMS THAT A DOG OF THIS TYPE WOULD OTHERWISE HAVE. ( as a guide, a breed like Alfie would need approx 7 grooms a year totalling approx $560. Having Alfie shaved under sedation 4 times a year would cost approx $750-$800.)
Whilst Alfie’s bio is quite specific, and makes him appear difficult or challenging, he really is a wonderful boy with so much to give the right owner and he truely deserves a beautiful home where he can feel safe and loved and where any training is always only through positive means.
Adoption details
Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email par.adoptions@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible. Some animals will inevitably be very popular and will generate many enquires. Where there is a high volume of enquires received, it will be our priority to contact those that best fit the requirements of the animal. This may mean that it is not possible for all enquires to be answered. Please keep an eye on the website for all updates.
Providing quality information as a part of your enquiry including information about your home environment, family, work hours, other pets and what you are looking for in a companion animal along with what you can offer one will greatly assist.
Please always provide a contact phone number as a part of your enquiry.
