ABOUT DRE

Giant baby Dre is an absolute sweetheart, but he is still a very young puppy with a lot to learn!

Dre is still quite timid. He will settle very quickly into his new home because he is a chilled home-body. But he does not like walks yet, and can get very scared (in a quiet trembling way) on trips to the vet. He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body and is very sweet. Because he is physically already very big, it is easy to think of him as a bigger and older dog, and have unrealistic expectations regarding his behaviour. Dre is a baby and will need care and patience for a while yet.

He will, however, grow to be around 70kg and will be very strong, so Dre will require a home that knows what to expect from large dogs: they need proper training, sensible boundaries, and a huge amount of food. He loves children, but the children probably need to be robust because he will not only jump up on them, he will also climb on their laps to have a nap.

Dre would settle into a home without another dog, but his foster-home does have a dog friend and it has been great for Dre to have a friend to play with and also an older dog to help teach him the ropes. If he gets adopted into a home without a dog playmate, he will need a lot of daily exercise and play (and not yet in the form of walks to the park, but more in the form of running around in the backyard with toys and balls for an hour or more per day).
