About Lucy
Lucy is a goofy sweetheart who will soon become your best friend for life – once you’ve earned her trust. While she doesn’t mind being around them, Lucy is distrustful of new people so will need time and patience in her new home. Once she’s warmed up to you, however, she’ll be napping in your lap and rolling over for belly scratches – you might even get a cheeky little lick on occasion.
Lucy has epilepsy and needs medication twice a day, so ideally her forever family will have a stable routine as it is important that she gets her meds consistently. She also takes medication for her anxiety which has helped her to relax significantly. Lucy's perfect home would be with her humans around more often than not.
Lucy is housetrained, knows ‘sit,’ has recently learned to play fetch, and is pretty good on the lead – though can get distracted by other dogs. She is very food motivated and a clever girl so could definitely learn some new commands with regular training.
Lucy loves squeaky soft toys, playing tug, and has loved her trips to the beach and the river. She’s adventurous and not afraid to get wet – though not totally sold on swimming. Once she’s settled into her new home and is feeling relaxed, she’ll happily sleep all afternoon and chill with you.
Lucy looooooves to go for a walk, is adventurous and inquisitive, and may have been a botanist in a past life since she’ll sniff every plant in the neighbourhood.
She is reactive to other dogs, but has shown improvement in foster care but this is something that will require some further work, possibly with a professional trainer. However, she will likely never be a ‘dog park’ dog. Lucy loves her people pack and will need to be an only dog.
