About Tigger
Tigger
Introducing Staghound x weighing a mere 30 kilos the loveable Tigger.
He is a very loveable boy who enjoys meeting people and especially other dogs
Tiggers exhunarcne to greet you means in his excitement he will jump on you to say hi but with ongoing training this should be easily corrected
Tigger is very dog social and we are really seeking a home for him with a loveable, playful and social friend as he loves companionship.
Tigger’s Temperament
Tigger is very people oriented and when on walks wants to say hi to everyone he sees This is evident with his quick tail wags and loud noisy sooks He loves other dogs and when walking him if he sees another dog he does pull to go say hi.Tigger has not shown any destructive nature.
As we have stated Tigger will jump on you for a hug and docent realize his size so although he is great with kids we would be seeking a home without as to avoid small children being bowled over.
He seems to have a prey drive with kangaroos when he sees them on walking so probably a home where he will not come into contact would be best
Feeding Tigger
When Tigger arrived he was extremely skinny and it seemed that he was unsure of when his next meal would be
This has caused him to be food driven and if you leave food on the bench in the kitchen he will help himself
Tigger is fed 2 large regular meals consisting of premium dry and wet food. He is very food driven and impatient with his food. He tends to chows down on all his meals. We change up and vary his feeding times so he does not expect to be fed at the same time everyday. We recommend for Tigger to be fed separately from other dogs until he’s confident that he doesn’t have to compete for food. Tigger tends to follow anyone and anywhere where there is food including scrapes and waste.
Walking and Exercising Tigger
We recommend for Tigger to have daily walks and regular exercise where he can stretch his legs and run.
Tigger walks better on a long lead and as most dogs pulls hard for the first 10 min or so but will relax down once he has " shaken his beans"
He can be a little strong for some so we would recommend halti training and we feel this would work very well for him
Tigger and Sleeping Environment
Tigger currently sleeps outside in a nice cosy kennel. He’s quite used to being an outdoor dog. . He will also sook when lonely so we prefer for him to have a playmate to keep him company. When indoors, Tigger has a tendency to jump straight on the couch so you must be willing to share your couch if you decide to keep Tigger as an inside dog.
He hasn't had much indoor training so this would need to be worked on
Tigger and Children
As Tigger is an easily and overly excitable dog, we advised against families with babies and young children due to his playful jumpy behaviour and being unaware of his size. We prefer much older kids who can understand Tigger’s temperament, strength and that with patience, will Tigger’s behaviour improve.
Tigger and Other Dogs
He quickly goes into a playful mode when he meets with other equally friendly dogs. For this reason, we prefer for him to go to a family who has a large friendly dog so Tigger can have a playmate and companion. We would also prefer for Tigger to be allowed to sleep with his new canine family member, be it outdoors or indoors so he won’t feel left out or lonely.
Ideal Home and Family for Tigger:
We want for Tigger to go to a family who will treat him as a family member and accept him for all his quirkinesses.
A home with a med to large friendly canine member is a must as Tigger craves a playmate and companion.
Willing to work with Tigger over his behaviour around food and walking.
Willing to share a large portion of your couch for his indoor time
A large secure yard to play and have fun
A daily walk is a
