Asta is a good girl with the most amazing eye make-up. Initially a bit reserved, she may not bounce into your heart, but she will crawl slowly, like she will crawl on your lap if you let her. She’s a big cuddle bug and loves getting snuggles.
She’s been living with two dogs, a female half her size and a male her size and has been good with both. She has shown an interest in cats but has not lost her mind over it, so may be trained to live with a cat.
Asta is playful and likes playing ball or tug. She is also a great running buddy. She enjoys strong chew toys or treats like goat horns or cow hooves. She likes hanging out in the yard, and will let you know when someone walks past. She has not shown any sign of trying to escape her current 6 foot fences and also respects the baby gate.
She is currently learning to sit and wait for her food, and stay on her mat. She has a solid sit and can also lie down and shake - with both paws! She may pull a bit on the lead initially but once she remembers her manners she is a pleasure to walk. She knows her name and generally comes when called, and has no problems in the car. Being very food motivated, she is great to train.
Her exercise requirements are medium. She loves to sniff and would enjoy sniffing games or scent work.
She would be ok as an only-dog but will need quality time daily with her humans, and dog friends she can meet for a play every so often. She is untested with kids.
Asta’s ideal forever home would have her spend her days with a dog friend in the yard and snuggle up on the couch with the family in the evening - and in between go for walks with lots of sniffing or some nice games of fetch or tug.
