About Cassie

Cassie is a sweet 16 year old Maltese X Shihzu who finds herself needing a new home through no fault of her own. Cassie adores spending time with her humans, and would benefit from someone who is home alot and able to spend plentiful, quality time with her. Cassie is great with her foster carers two cats, but best suited to a home with no dogs or children. Cassie is getting on in age now, and would prefer a nice retirement and a relaxing life.
Cassie is a little hard of sight and hearing nowadays, and has cysts on her back which have been tested and not causing her any problems. At this stage, removal is not recommended due to her age and anaesthesia risk, and that these cysts are harmless to her.
Cassie will be vaccinated, to be microchipped to new owner and is not desexed due to her age and intake status. However, bloodwork is being performed in the next few days to determine potential surgery status & overall health. Note that she is a senior pet and with seniority comes declined or lessened health. Rest assured, SPSF will withdraw Cassie's application should she become ill, or unsuitable for rehoming, and we have done our best to maintain her health with veterinary care.
If you're looking for a new best friend, please fill in the form using the link above (if any issues or further questions please contact the Adoption Coordinator on 0451 126 643 or sarah.nixon@safepetssafefamilies.org.au, I work full-time so text only please, but I will respond!). Senior pets are SO worth it, and Cassie is such a cute, sweet soul. Please consider her if you meet the criteria and feel as if you can provide Cassie with the same love and loyalty she will give you.
Medical notes
Cassie will be vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.
Cassie is experiencing some blindness and deafness.
Cassie is not desexed currently due to vet recommendations (i.e. risk for her to go under anaesthesia at this age, but awaiting bloods and results in order to determine if she's healthy to do so).
For the same reason, the non-problematic cysts on her back have not been removed and are not troubling her.
