About AJ ~ 6yr Old Staffy X Cattle Dog
AJ is a 6yr old Staffy X Cattle dog who is very relaxed and well trained dog who quickly warms up to people. He is a well behaved dog who loves affection, pats/scratches, and his chew toys.
His favourite pastime is walking/jogging, and he will get very excited once he knows he is going on one. When walking AJ does not generally pull on the leash, and is learning to stop at the edge of roads and wait for me to cross first.
AJ is dog reactive and would benefit from further training. His previous owner had an autistic child, and hence AJ is great around kids. Ideally he would be an only pet in a family with kids/teenagers or people who will play with him regularly and give him a lot of attention. As a small/medium sized dog, AJ would need a fenced yard, though he does not jump. He would want to have a grass area to play on outside, and enjoys sitting there watching the world.
While AJ is usually quiet, he will bark when anxious or overstimulated. Generally this is when he is about to go for a walk, or when other dogs walk by. He is getting more comfortable when being left alone, however much prefers having people at home with him, and likes to know where people are/check on them frequently.
AJ is a very smart dog and will quickly learn house rules and abide by them, avoiding jumping on the bed, or being in the kitchen while I am cooking (sitting at the edge in view waiting for offcuts). AJ understands basic commands ("Sit", "Stay", "Wait") and responds well to Out or Off. He is toilet trained with no accidents so far, sleeping in my room with the door shut. To get attention he will sit at the door, or put his paws up on my bed to go outside of a morning.
