About Iggy
Iggy is an easy dude, he loves his walks and does his best to get pats and ear scratches from complete strangers. Most are happy to oblige - who could resist this friendly happy boy with gentle eyes and soft greying face. He’s your new best friend in 5 seconds. At home Iggy loves his pats and cuddles but is also fond of a snoot kiss or two. Iggy is a great housemate. He is toilet trained - he will tend to hold on, waiting to do the business at walk times. He has learnt stairs and will follow your directions such as “stay” and “shake”.
When you are at work for a few hours or out to dinner he is mostly chilled being alone. He will have a big nap, ready to greet you like a long lost friend when you return home.
Iggy does love his bed and will spend some time rearranging his blankets until they are just right and then park his substantial bum in his bed for a satisfying snooze. Road trips ! Iggy thinks car rides are the best. He’s happy to mostly nap, even up to 5 hours in the car on his way to an adventure with you.
Currently Iggy goes to doggy day care twice a week and is the perfect gentleman with his mates there. Iggy would be happy as an only dog or to share his home with a medium or large dog.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
