About Koa ~ 8mo Blue Cattle Dog(On Trial 21/08/21)
Meet Koa, a beautiful 8 month old blue cattle dog. Koa is very a energetic, smart and playful
puppy, but he does also love a good cuddle and can be quite sooky.
Koa loves to play fetch with either his soccer ball or a tennis ball, loves a good chew toy and
loves walking with his foster family. Koa also loves to come inside and have a bit of quiet
time with the family.
Since coming into care, Koa has improved sitting on command, is very gentle when being
hand fed, and currently learning how to stay. He is a smart boy and has alot to learn. Koa's
recall is also improving but he does get easily distracted, the world is just so exciting for a
puppy!
Koa is good to walk on the lead with his halti collar, however sometimes Koa gets
very excited and will jump up to greet people, or sometimes get snappy with passing cars or
fellow canines. For this reason he would not be suitable to a home with young children due
to excitement and probability of knocking them over. He is improving on his jumping up
with his foster carer but will need ongoing support and training.
Koa still requires assistance with toilet training but has again improved already, he's so smart! Koa currently sleeps outside with his foster sister in a warm comfy bed, he is not used to sleeping inside as of yet. Koa is not a fan of some small dogs, depending on their level of friendliness. Koa is curious when meeting cats, but is learning that he's not allowed to chase them. His foster feline is very patient with him, he would not be suitable living with a cat that is scared of dogs.
Koa's forever family will be with someone who knows the breed, has the time to spend
continuing his training, understands his need for both mental and physical stimulation and
has plenty of time to play with him and go for walks! Suitable person would not be working
full time and be home more often than not. Koa is a working breed and would not be suited
to an apartment or small yard, he needs a very secure yard with high fencing. Koa would
benefit from a canine companion, preferably around his own size and one that is patient as
he is still a puppy as Koa's foster sister sometimes gets cranky at him for not sharing the
tennis ball. Koa loves to come inside and spend time with the family and will happily follow
you around or have a snooze in his bed.
