About Missy
Missy
Missy is a 10yr old Staffy Cross weighing 18 kilos . She has the most beautiful happy smile and the cutest wiggly bottom and “helicopter” tail when she’s excited ….it’s so hard to resist patting this sweet loving girl as she will demand your attention ..
Toileting
Fully house trained . Will walk to the door and stand there and look at you . If you don’t notice her she will give a small sharp bark to get your attention and begin dancing around until you take her out .
Food and diet
Missy has been eating an inch of Prime roll with a cup and a half of Hills Kibble each day . Likes to have fresh water close by to help herself to as she pleases . Not food oriented but will get your attention if she wants to be fed and will eagerly wait for you to tell her it’s ok to eat . Missy has recently started to enjoy chewing on a beef tendon but will only do so when no one is around ..
Behaviour
She enjoys as much human attention as she can get .. highly social and loves to be patted , spoken to and involved in anything you do. Did I mention that she adores a good belly rub
If left alone can become anxious and cry until you return to her sight . On arrival into foster care , Missy came with a lot of anxiety but with routine established and positive reinforcement she is happy for you to leave her for short periods as long as she is given all your attention when you return .Very easily settled though if she knows you will return and not going to be far from her sight in the first few weeks until she settles in . Missy tends to lick her carers and their clothes constantly when she feels the most anxious or over stimulated but will stop if she’s instructed to and assured you are going no where .
Sleep
Like any old girl , she LOVES her sleep!! Missy has begun sleeping on a soft pet bed by day in the sun but by night she prefers the security of sleeping inside in a pet crate . She likes yo retreat to the crate if her environment gets too noisy and will take herself off to bed about 8pm and stay there until you wake in the morning . Missy does settle better being covered up with a blanket on a very cold night or will come looking for you for warmth if she’s cold
Skin
Missy has had some major surgery recently and the skin on her belly has remained red since. Missy has the softest fur and loves a good brush at least once a week. Oatmeal shampoo is recommended for her though as some dog shampoos can irritate her skin .
Obedience
Missy will sit on command especially to wait for her meals . Missy tends to have your own agenda and will use her sweet face to try and get out of anything but generally very obedient and quick to respond when you ask anything of her . Loves praise when she knows she has pleased you also .
Exercise
Becomes so excited to see her lead and harness as she knows that means “Walkies time” . Likes to walk along side you and doesn’t wander far but engages in a lot of crossing your path on this walk . She does not pull on a lead but it’s very easy to trip over her as she tends to walk in front of you and just stop suddenly to stay close to her walking pal
Toys and fun
Belly rubs are her most favourite thing in the world . Being an older lady she is not really interested in toys at all . More interested in a beef tendon if she becomes bored
Relationships
Humans are her most favourite thing in the world and will wander up to anyone for a pat .. very social young lady. Loves the teenage kids in foster care and excited to see and hear young children playing around her but being an older girl , she adores her time to herself and will take herself to bed or crate when she feels she needs this . In foster care we have noticed that she’s reliant on the female of the house but more loyal to the male members .
