ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS - BONDED PAIR WITH XANTHE - CHILDREN OVER 8 OR GUINEA PIG EXPERIENCED FAMILY - PHOTOS OF INDOOR ENCLOSURE READY PRIOR TO ADOPTION - HAS A MEDICAL CONDITION

Hello! My name is Xena. My sister (Xanthe) and I were found abandoned together in a carrier with no food or water. I was understandably traumatised by this experience, but I'm gradually learning that not all humans will let me down and have been getting braver everyday while in foster care. My foster mum is quite proud that I am transforming nicely from 'Worrier' to 'Warrior Princess'! I must be adopted with Xanthe as we seek comfort from each other when we're scared. I was born with hind dew claws (not very natural for guinea pigs!), so I will require a cage without mesh (so they don't get stuck!) and potentially vet visits if it becomes an issue in the future. I'm still getting used to being handled (I can be very squirmy and easily injured if I am not handled/being held safely by a mature person) and need a patient human who understands that I need lots of gentle and consistent handling to help me blossom into a confident, well-socialised piglet. However, to help me settle into my new home, I will initially need space and time to get to know you before you can carefully pick me up. Hand feeding me tasty food such as cos lettuce, parsley, and broccoli leaves (my fav!) is a good start to earning my trust. Guinea pigs feel the cold and heat just like humans do, and as it is currently winter, I will definitely need a suitable indoor enclosure. For a pair of guinea pigs, the RSPCA knowledgebase recommends a minimum enclosure size of 2m x 0.5m x 25cm high and ideally have access to a safe, secure larger area where we can run and exercise.
