About Ochi
If you like big smiles, good girls and pretty dogs then Ochi may be the girl for you!
Ochi came to us after finding herself in a rural NSW pound. She has slotted into foster care like a dream and apart from some typical puppy behaviors, she is a really lovely dog to have around the home. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and is independent enough to take herself out for a sunbake or a sleep on the lounge.
Ochi is a very stable dog and is learning all about her new life quickly. She will however need a family who are patient and understanding that life in Sydney is very different to where she came from and continue to expose her gently to new things and build her confidence. She is generally not phased by most things but will get nervous of certain new things and will need a family experienced enough to help her through these moments.
We are looking for a family with another confident, playful and friendly dog who will allow Ochi to get in close for snuggles as she is still learning about personal space! She is not suitable for dog parks or off leash areas yet as her recall needs work and the dog park environment would be too overwhelming for her.
Ochi has not been around children while in care, but due to her sweet personality we feel she would do ok in a house with older children if it’s not too loud and busy. She has been fine when left alone in the backyard with the other dogs in care for a couple of hours, so we feel she would suit part time workers if they have another dog for company. She has not been exposed to cats or pocket pets.
Ochi will need a decent amount of daily exercise and some mental stimulation. She will not suit inner city living or apartment living. She would love a family who will take her on adventures and include her as part of their day to day lives- she travels well in the car so this is a bonus! She is a smart girl and has learnt some basic commands already while in care. Her new owners should be prepared to continue her training, especially leash work as she can be a little bit of a puller. She sleeps well in her crate overnight and even has started taking herself off to her crate for nap times. She has indoor/outdoor access as she pleases and takes herself off to the toilet. She will need a good quality diet and a warm, comfy bed to sleep on inside at night time.
If you feel you could be a match for smiley girl, fill out an adoption application form on our website as the next step in the process. Please note that due to current Covid restrictions, we are unable to adopt outside of the Greater Sydney area at this stage.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
