About Joey
Our Joey is a tall, elegant, black hound. His defining feature is one white ankle sock. Joey is quite the specimen strutting down the street on his walks.
Joey is a very polite, gentle and confident hound and who shows such joy for his rescued life. He will try anything, not phased by traffic and noisy trucks, Joey likes his two walks and can even keep up with a short jog.
Joey prefers the company of humans but he is fine around other dogs, He will happily walk with another dog but may give a dog he meets a corrective growl if the dog is rude or boisterous.
Joey has adapted very well to life in foster care. He is toilet trained and settles and sleeps through the night. He can do stairs (both up and down) and is unafraid of tiles, mirrors or any other spooky things in his new adoption home. Joey has learnt how to “stay” and wait for his dinner, or for you to let him out of the front door.
In between snoozes, walks and dinner time, Joey does love his play times, spending a few excited minutes zooming about the living room throwing his toys in the air.
After the moments of activity he will start nesting - organising is bedding into the perfect arrangement for a long nap.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
