About Jock
**URGENT** Foster carer or forever home required!!
Handsome Jock was rescued from a pound in rural NSW and literally given a second chance at life. For the most part he has settled into his new life as a much-loved companion (who also much-loves his own reflection in the mirror), but there are still a few things that make him nervous in the world.
Jock recently had an adoption trial which sadly didn’t work out (not Jock’s fault at all) and since moving back to his foster carer’s has become a bit unsettled, in the evenings especially. Jock thrives with consistency and familiarity and needs some more time to feel safe in the world again.
Jock’s foster carer has a number of trips coming up and we think moving back and forth from dog-sitters to home will be too much upheaval for him. Jock needs a new long-term foster carer, or even better – forever home to call his own.
Jock’s very special new humans will show him love and patience as he settles in and gets used to the new smells, sounds and routine in his life. Amazing Greys will help with training/management techniques.
While things play out differently with every dog and every new situation, Jock’s new family will likely expect:
• Some restless nights as Jock settles in
• Taking things slowly and gradually on walks – Jock often freezes on walks and is slowly taking in new sights and smells of the world
• Jock has some reactivity to smaller dogs, so any socialisation should be taken slowly – Amazing Greys has lots of resources to help with this too
In return for your patience and guidance, Jock will show you:
• A gorgeous, curious personality that emerges as he starts to build trust
• His fondness for belly rubs
• How good he is at keeping you company
• His skills as a professional couch-warmer and napper
Jock’s ideal foster/forever home will look something like this:
• No small dogs/pocket pets. Jock could potentially go into a home with another greyhound or large breed dog pending introductions, but please note he does not yet have much socialisation experience
• A home in a quieter suburb or with a yard, so he has space to toilet, relax, and play while he gets used to walking in his new neighbourhood
• A home where his new humans are around a lot – Jock has had the luxury of being in foster with humans who work from home, so doesn’t have a lot of experience with time home alone just yet
If your couch has an empty space with Jock’s name on it, and you think you could be his new very special humans, please email us at: adopt@amazinggreys.com.au.
Before enquiring, please consider:
• What your social and work commitments will look like as we approach a “Covid-normal”
• The time and financial commitments of welcoming a forever hound into your home
