About Driver
4-year-old Driver is ready to park his butt at his dream forever home.
Driver arrived in care with Amazing Greys about 6 weeks ago, after being dumped at a pound in rural NSW with seven of his buddies. Driver’s foster carers literally gave him a second chance at life, and he has been learning all the essential skills a professional couch-potato needs in leaps and bounds.
Driver was underfed when he first arrived in care and as a result was very food obsessed. For the most part, he has learned that not all food in the home requires a greyhound quality control test. But he will let you know when it’s time for a meal. Driver’s new home will be careful not to leave food lying around on counter-tops.
Driver lives as an only dog and is happy being the sole recipient of his human’s affection. However, he is friendly with other dogs he has met on walks and could potentially go into a home with another medium or large breed dog, pending introductions. Driver loves going for walks and has picked up loose-leash walking well. He does find traffic and main roads a bit scary still but his confidence is building.
Driver adores people and is friendly with everyone he meets. He doesn’t quite know his own size though and can be enthusiastic with his hello’s. For this reason, if there are children in Driver’s new forever home, they need to be 10 years or older.
Driver is a clever boy and is learning ‘on your bed’, ‘on the couch’, ‘stay’, and ‘come’. He would love his new humans to continue learning games and skills with him.
Driver likes a comfy life and will steal pillows from all around the home to cushion his bed with. He is also loves tearing up cardboard, so save your cereal boxes and egg cartons for home-made food enrichment toys! Driver loves a treasure hunt, squeaky toys, and will even play fetch. He would love a home with a big outdoor space for games but is also okay in a smaller space with enough enrichment, attention, and walks. He would not suit a home with no outdoor area at all.
Driver adores having his human around for company but has also been fine with longer hours home alone too, provided he has enough enrichment. He has always had outdoor access for toileting when home alone for FT hours.
