About Koda
Koda was born to be your best friend and part of the family. This gorgeous girl loves her humans to pieces and can't get enough love and affection (don't worry, she more than reciprocates the love she gets). Koda is a very social butterfly with a thing for the dramatics, this girl loves the spotlight and having everyone dote on her (who wouldn't with that cute face!). She enjoys expanding her social circles, loving to meet new people and new canine friends. Never is there a dull moment with this girl, she loves playing in the backyard, going to the beach, going for walks and exploring. She was born to accompany her humans wherever their lives take them. Don’t get her wrong, she may enjoy being active but her favourite thing to do is chilling out on the couch, snuggled up nice and close to her humans (and getting lots of the important cuddles). So far there hasn’t been a single activity she has tried that she didn't like. Koda will also gladly be the host (guest of honor) at any family gatherings or social events at your home. She likes to charge a good head scratch to cover the door fee but if you want to stay, you’d better cough up some more cuddles for her. Koda is a food fanatic! She loves her food and isn't a fussy eater (she likes to think she is a food critic...she is not!). She loves a good game of fetch or tug-of-war but watch out as she won’t let you know ahead of time about her championship titles in both doggy sports. Koda adores playing with kids as well as other dogs. She is a family girl through and through with her copious amount of love for all.
Koda is an adult dog so learning new things is not expected to come very easily to her but did she prove us wrong! She has started her training with a bang and while being new to training she has learnt quite a few commands already. Koda may not know these commands perfectly yet but she has made some amazing progress. This girl is learning to lie down, wait and settle down on command currently. Koda also has mostly got her “stay” and “no” commands down pat. Her love for food has made training a dream as she responds well to positive reinforcement training. She may sometimes struggle when learning a new command but through patience and support she will get the hang of things. Koda may benefit from being taught the command in a different way to help her better understand what she is being asked to do. As Koda is a people pleaser, she may sometimes get dejected if she doesn't understand the commands she is learning, this is where the positive reinforcement with food and lots of pats can help. She needs to have humans who understand that she needs a lot of time and attention as she loves them so very much. Koda needs people willing to spend the time training her and helping her learn her commands as well as making sure she gets lots of play time. Koda has learnt to proficiently walk well on a lead and is house trained. She loves people very much and can sometimes jump up when she gets excited or even just to give you some cuddles but she is learning not to.
Koda will need to be with humans who will continue her training in addition to helping her practise the commands she has already learnt while being understanding and providing positive reinforcement for when she struggles to understand what she is being taught. Koda is also an active girl who will need humans who are dedicated to ensuring that she gets lots of exercise and cuddles, and who will provide her with sufficient mental stimulation to keep her busy. She will need to go on daily or even sometimes twice daily walks as she is a super active girl with bucket loads of energy. Sufficient stimulation is very important as it will deter Koda from chewing on things she is not supposed to and digging (she has been known to sometimes do these things). She is looking for a loving family that she can cherish and open her heart to.
Adoption details
MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
