About Montana ~ Cattle Dog X Kelpie(On Trial 5/8/21)
My name is Montana, but I prefer to be called MoMo. I am a 2-year-old Cattle x Kelpie with the most gorgeous golden coat. I can be a little shy at first, but once I am comfortable I will give you all of the lovin’. I can take a little longer to warm up to men, so please be patient with me.
I am really smart, very quiet and I respond well to positive reinforcement. I am completely house trained and am very respectful of my foster home, both inside and outside. At the moment, I sleep in my own bed in my foster parents’ bedroom. I love to wake them up in the morning by licking their hands and feet. I know lots of tricks including; sit, lay, roll over, stay, look and I know how to shake with both of my paws. I also love playing with my ball and am a really good catch.
At the moment, I go for one short walk and one long walk per day. I love going on walks, especially with my front-clip harness on as it helps me stay on track. I try to stay focused on my foster mum when out walking and I am learning not to be too scared of other dogs whilst out. Whilst walking, I love to look to my foster mum for lots of positive reinforcement as I try to be a really good girl and I love to be told when I am doing the right thing. When I am off lead, I always stay near my humans and I have excellent recall.
Since coming into foster care, I have been an only dog and I would prefer to keep it that way. I love to have time and space to myself and I am a really good girl when my foster parents go to work. I don’t mind hanging out in the backyard during the day, however, I do love to come inside when my humans are home. I am a really good girl whilst inside and I just love lying in my warm comfy bed. I don’t care too much about food, so I don’t beg and will be respectful of you when you are eating meals.
I love living in a quiet and calm household, so I would prefer to live with older children/teens or just with adults.
I have not been tested with cats.
As I mentioned earlier, I can be a little wary of strangers as I like to ensure my humans are safe. Therefore, my new forever family will need to ensure I have lots of positive encounters with new people to help me learn that strangers are OK.
I am a bit of a scaredy-cat and other dogs sometimes frighten me. Please slowly introduce me to other dogs as I can get a little overwhelmed by it all. I prefer to play with my ball than with other dogs.
Please only apply for me if you have previous experience with owning/training a dog. I will need lots of love and patience to help me be the best doggo possible.
Here is my wish list -
● To be welcomed inside when my humans are home
● A dry, warm and comfortable outdoor area
● A pet-free household (no other dogs, cats or pocket pets)
● An active family who have previous experience with training dogs
● Older children/teens only
● Commitment to ongoing training and enrichment
● Love, patience, understanding and lots of wonderful adventures to share
● Lots of positive reinforcement
If you would like to meet me and you think you may be able to offer me the most wonderful life possible, please email my foster mum, Savanna at savanna_27@hotmail.com
