On Hold
About Roo
Bursting with a heart full of love, Roo was born to be as sweet as sugar. This sweetheart is a pocket rocket fuelled with lots of love and affection. Roo adores affection and is quite the little ‘eyes on me’ kinda girl. With such a cute face it is hard not to resist her charm. Roo will never say no to a good cuddle session where she can get in lots of well deserved pats. She enjoys meeting new people and is quite the socialite at parties (more people means more attention on her, meaning more pats!). Spending time with Roo will have you enjoying yourself so much that the time will just fly by. With her seemingly endless stores of energy, she is guaranteed to win any game you put before her. Roo has thus far become a champion in fetch and tug of war, making her keen for a new game to learn (dominate). This athletic little cutie loves a good walk, making her more than happy to help you with those exercise goals you probably set as your New Year's resolutions. Have no fear, your motivation has arrived. Roo may be buzzing with energy but she is well versed in the importance of a good siesta and will gladly take a good break to replenish her energy. However, she is no couch potato and will soon be up and about again. Lots of energy means lots of food, make no mistake, this girl can eat. She loves her food, it comes only second to her love for her humans (close second). Roo is looking for that special someone that will reciprocate all the love she has in her heart and would make a perfect companion to anyone.
All Roo wants to do is spend time with her humans, she is eager to please and loves her training (as long as it includes treats and cuddles, she isn't doing this for free!). She has just started her training and as a pup, she has a long way to go but she is ready for the challenge (she has more than enough energy for it). Roo is busy learning her “stay”, “lie down”, “wait”, “come”, “out”, “bed”, “no’ and “fetch” commands. She is a fast learner, finding that her best commands tend to be the simplest. Her basic “sit” command is the command she best understands but she is working her very hardest to learn the rest. Roo responds well to positive reinforcement training (with her love for food as a huge motivator). She is still a pup and may sometimes struggle when learning a new command but through patience and support she will get the hang of things. Roo may benefit from being taught the command in a different way to help her better understand what she is being asked to do. As Roo is a people pleaser, she may sometimes get dejected if she doesn't understand the commands she is learning, this is where the positive reinforcement with food and lots of pats can help. She needs to have humans who understand that she needs a lot of time and attention as she loves them so very much. Roo needs people willing to spend the time training her and helping her learn her commands as well as making sure she gets lots of play time. Roo is still learning her manners when it comes to not jumping up on guests but she just loves humans so much that sometimes she forgets herself. She will also dig just to make sure her bones are kept nice and safe for later.
Roo will need to be with humans who will continue her training in addition to helping her practise the commands she has already learnt while being understanding and providing positive reinforcement for when she struggles to understand what she is being taught. Roo is also an active girl who will need humans who are dedicated to ensuring that she gets lots of exercise and cuddles, and who will provide her with sufficient mental stimulation to keep her busy. She will need to go on daily or even sometimes twice daily walks as she is a super active girl with bucket loads of energy. Please note that she will not be ready to go to her forever home until she has received her 16 weeks vaccination and her desexing will be completed at 6 months as part of the adoption agreement.
Adoption details
MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
