About Axel
Hello my name is Axel
My foster mum says I’m a handsome, loving boy who just enjoys life. I am an affectionate boy and love to snuggle with my humans.
I am a 5 years old Fox Terrier and my foster mum says I have beautiful manners – she calls me Mister Manners.
My only quirk is that I am not that keen on a lot of other dogs, and I will growl and act like I want to take them on, but I honestly don’t want too – if anything I just don’t like them, and will growl at them and behave like a Fox Terrier who is not wanting another dog in my space - I’m just telling them to step out of my space - so the rescue says I need to go to a home as an only dog.
I am untested with cats but with me not liking other dogs, the rescue has said it’s a safe bet I won’t be that great with cats either (unfortunately there was no cats who volunteered to meet me).
I am a boy who enjoys the luxury of an indoor life and have great indoor manners using the doggy door when I need to go outside for the toilet. My favorite position in the whole home is sitting on a couch and chillaxing.
I do like to spend some time outside doing my thing so I would like to have the best of both worlds - inside and outside access when I want.
My foster mum says I’m super gentle when taking treats from your hand and I loooove pats.
I enjoy going for walks, but not those power walks things I see some people do, I love to go for a walk and sniff the flowers, and the poles, and the trees and the footpath and really anything else so you will need to be prepared to be a leisure walker with me.
I am not a barker except if a dog walks out the front of my foster home and then I will give a bark to let them know I know they are there and they better keep walking (see even then I promise I have manners) .
Even though my coat is short I do enjoy a good brush (my foster mum says groom, but brush sounds way more manly if you ask me)
My ideal home would be with someone who is home more often than not (either works from home, no longer works or is a stay home parent who just wants that extra company each day)
My foster mum says I connect beautifully with children and love to be in their laps and snuggle close for periods, however if they get really excited I will excuse myself politely (cause you know I have manners) and go into another room and snooze. I think though cause I do like my own space I would be asking to be in a home with kids over 5 years of age.
I do have bursts of energy where I like silly fast play and I love balls and toys – I enjoy a good play and then with a toy a good snooze – you can often find me on the outside couch soaking up the sun and snoozing.
I am currently enjoying hanging out with my foster family and at the moment I am happily sleeping inside and would very much like this to continue in my new home. Please note I do feel the cold and loves to wear jackets / jumpers even in the house for extra warmth.
I would very much like to be an active member in my new family’s lives - hanging out inside with my family, or being outside for family time - basically just being with my family
l have a lot of love to give, and any family would be lucky to have me as part of their lives.

Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 2 week trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
