About Kenny
-Kenny loves adults but is also very gentle around children. He loves cuddles as well as being your shadow
- he loves dogs and will know when to hold back if they can't handle his puppy energy. I think Kenny would thrive with another dog who is happy to share their owner. He gets excited about birds but won't chase turkeys. He ignored the cat we pointed out to him
- Kenny loves food but allows us to take his bowl or bone away without getting upset and he's also not much of a begger
- he is well-mannered and polite and will let you go through the door first. He still needs a bit of training with the leash as he can get excited about all the smells on his walks.
- training has been a bit challenging as Kenny might be hearing impaired. However, the things we have taught him, such as wait, bring the ball back and go back to your bed, he has learned quickly and I feel he's very smart. A buzz collar or some.professional dog training sessions may help Kenny to keep looking for.you for directions and what hand signals mean.
- Kenny's nature is calm and placid and a real joy to have around
- Kenny was found wandering the streets with his siblings and was physically not in great shape. His skin is still recovering and he still gets washed with medicated shampoo to help him feel better. He lets me wash him without making a fuss but prefers warm water. He also had a tick and was quite unwell. He's about to be desexed next week and other than his skin issues he seems well and healthy.
-kenny is potty trained and has not had an accident in the house. In the morning he waits patiently to be let out. After he does his business he doesn't seem to scratch which is good for the garden. He has not dug in any of his bones either.
- he is used to having a pack around him, initially with his 4 siblings and then fostered by a family with 3 other dogs. if it was up to Kenny, he'd sleep in our bed with us but we are teaching him that his sleeping arrangements are different from his humans. He's adjusting quickly although I think he would really like to snuggle up to another dog if option one is not available.
- I think that Kenny will be happiest if he has a continuous sense of his pack being around. This may be due to not hearing well and needing more assurance that the "quiet" world is a safe one
- Kenny is so sweet and cute it is hard to get upset with him for anything
Kenny is looking for a forever home and these are the things on my wishlist for him.
- a home that loves big, placid dogs
- a good sized a closed garden
- a playmate (dog) that will not see Kenny as too much competition or that can be taught to share the owner. I also think Kenny can learn being second as he has submissive traits.
- a dedicated and patient trainer to get Kenny to learn more focus and further commands.
- a dedicated shampoo or at least for the initial stages until his skin is fully healed
- lots of cuddles and praise
Medical notes
He does have skin sensitivities so will need to be bathed with a medicated wash if he’s itchy.
