About Tiny
Tiny is a petite size kelpie who has a lot of love to give in the right environment. She is approximately 2-4 years old and weighs approx 16kg.
A calm household and a firm consistent handler, secure fencing and another confident well-balanced dog to live with are imperative. She may try to be dominant with a “softer” personality dog, so a more confident, well-balanced happy dog who doesn’t care is required.
She is very anxious when left behind and will try to get out to be with you, however with another calm dog she just follows their lead. She is very affectionate, and loves her humans as well as the other dogs she lives with.
At play time she is all GO and can be quite vocal when chasing the other dogs who are chasing toys. She also shows some herding instinct, she is a kelpie after all! The way she plays up close and barking might be too much for some dogs, but she has learnt STOP and SIT and then will go play again when allowed. She is super smart and very easy to train, she listens and you can almost see the cogs ticking over inside her brain working out what you want.
She loves car trips, we mean just loves them! And will happily hang out the window if the harness has enough length. She is currently eating a raw food diet and gets very excited about meal time and will run around into position to wait for her turn.
Now that Tiny has learnt to walk on a lead, she loves her walks, sniffing and looking, but she gets very startled and scared by noises such as wheelie bins and the like. She is improving every day but you will need to be very aware and have her secure.
A daily belly rub or back rub are important and she loves nothing more than to snuggle up next to you on the couch or your bed if she is allowed. She might be all go when playing but when it’s rest time she has an off switch and just curls up on a mat along with the other dogs. She’s toilet trained and sleeps all night if she’s warm until you are awake, then she’s so happy to see you all over again!
She is presently in foster care with 3 other dogs who are all working breeds, and a shift worker who works odd hours and can be gone for up to 12 hours at a time. As mentioned, she will be very upset and anxious if left alone, but will be fine if in the company of other dogs.
Her ideal home would be a calm happy patient home, where she can sleep inside and is a part of her dog and human family. Not suited to children as she is startled by noises and fast movement. She is fine with teenagers or happy adults once she’s gotten to know them. She will probably be quite scared when first adopted, and may take a good month to really settle in and become confident.
Please don’t apply for Tiny just because she is cute, we know that!
She deserves the perfect fit for her forever home. Tiny has a lot of personality and in a calm household with boundaries and consistent encouragement, she will relax and you will see her cute personality shine.
So, if you’re a happy and encouraging family with another dog and good fencing, who will take her on car rides and be part of family life... Could she be your perfect match?
