About Stevo
Our Stevo is a sweet boy. He loves his comforts of home and happy to semi-snooze the day away with his human. Stevo would be an ideal companion if you are working from home. He can nap while you have your Zoom meeting. Later in the afternoon he can zoom about with a squeaky toy while you laugh.
Stevo loves his food but is respectful of yours. At dinner time with his foster Auntie he waits until she finishes her dinner and then he may just pop over to help clean the dishes. Stevo sleeps well through the night but may just give you a nudge if you hit the snooze button too many times. Its morning ! it’s Stevo time !
Stevo is very good with his foster Auntie. Kind and gentle, they walk well together and sleep side by side.
Stevo loves his walks and will charge out the door come rain, hail or shine. He can be a bit nervous meeting new doggos but with more time and patience he will be Mister Cool. He is a joy on leash, only stopping occasionally for a good sniff or a fossick in the grass.
Stevo is a big boy and a sight to behold when trotting down the street (and getting a lot of attention from the locals). Despite his size, Stevo navigates the house with the deft of a cat. He is incredibly clean and polite too – if taught the house rules, he respects and remembers them.
Stevo is your classic elegant black grey with a few white markings. He is very handsome with a touch of the ‘silver fox’ around his muzzle, the softest ears, and beautiful eyes that follow you around like the Mona Lisa.
He did have an injury to his foot from racing but is recovered. It did mean he was retired early. Lucky boy.
If medals were given out for greyhound roaching and bowing – Stevo would make the podium. He’s also a pro at sleeping on soft spaces (often with tongue hanging out) or anywhere he can catch a ray of sun. He is a smart boy too, learning to shake hands in just 3 short lessons and an expert in getting and out of the car.
Stevo does have separation anxiety so can only go to a home where her has humans home 24/7 or another doggo for companionship.
No cat or small dog applications please.
No children under ten.
No full time workers unless working from home post COVID19 unless there is another dog

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
