Hi, my name is Autumn. Autumn by name but spring by nature, and I am a young lady looking for a loving couple or family to take me into their hearts and home.
I am young, high-energy and a bit rough and tumble, but there’s a soft side to me and I need love, cuddles and snuggles with my family, especially in the evenings and at weekends.
I love people and other dogs, especially dogs who like to play zoomies around the yard and like a bit of playful rough stuff. I haven’t met any cats yet.
I am good with all children but can get a bit excited and am at my best with children over 10 years old who can exert a bit of control when my tail wags a little too much. After all I am still young myself.
I have not had the opportunity to develop my lead manners yet, but I have been doing some preliminary off lead work and can already sit, stay, wait for my meals, and reliably come when called.
Good news! I am very loyal and although I will let you know when strangers are about or friends arrive, I do not normally bark. An indoor/outdoor dog I am toilet trained, don’t damage things and mostly know my place.
I do not normally jump or dig, and I am basically a home body. However, left on my own the danger is boredom. I need a household where someone is around most of the time, preferably with another dog to play with and a back yard that is secure. While I have not tried to jump fences in foster care, Kelpies have a reputation for jumping, so for safety’s sake I need secure 5ft-6 ft fencing.
Foster Pop says, “Autumn is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met and will blossom with active people who are prepared to train, exercise, play with her and involve her in family activities. She would make a great running or hiking or swimming companion. Once she gets the basic training right, she could even go on to do scenting, flyball or agility. Above all else, with the right people and training, Autumn will mature into a fabulous, loving companion.”
My ideal home would be with an experienced dog owner, a family with older kids who have one or more doggy playmates with medium/high energy levels, secure 5ft-6ft fencing, a nice comfortable bed indoors, daily interaction with my forever family, ongoing training, and walks.
