Flint

Flint wasn't just born into the world, he came in with a bang! He is a playful goofball who is always looking for a good game or a laugh (maybe he can’t laugh but he can smile). Flint knows how to liven up a crowd with his hilarious antics and is a natural born comedian. He likes any game you introduce him to but his favourites by far have to be tug-of-war (he is a national champion, care to challenge him) and fetch (modified fetch). Flint has two styles of fetch that he likes to play: the traditional one (eyeroll) and his modified fetch. While he is learning the rules of the traditional one (much to his disgust, even though it is still fun), he much prefers his modified version where he chases the ball and you pick it up. He is keen for a challenger to take on his championship title if they dare. Flint loves a good car ride and enjoys watching the scenery on his way to his destination (even if said destination is the vets, blech!). He loves a good meal and is a polite dinner guest at any dinner party. Flint is super friendly and loves everyone so he has been known to through a few social gatherings much like his brother, Onyx. His door fee is just some much deserved pats but like his business savvy brother, he has adopted a ‘you can stay if you pay’ rule (pay as in shower him with affection and pats).

Flint is a quick learner who responds well to training and with the right guidance he is sure to pick up anything he is taught. He has been working with his foster carer on practising his “wait” command which he is close to perfecting. Flint has mostly learnt his “out” command and is still in the process of learning his “leave it”, “settle down” and “fetch” commands. Food is a great motivator for this guy as he can sometimes get distracted and this helps him to refocus his attention to the task at hand. Sometimes he can get a little confused or not fully understand what he is being taught, however, he will guarantee his best efforts in trying to please his humans. Flint may benefit from being taught a skill in a different way and needs humans who will understand that he is trying his best and will help to encourage him to keep trying. He isn't house trained as he does spend much of his time outside (which is ok but he does like to spend more time inside with his humans than out) but he will stay in a pen at night without any accidents. He does bark when he is triggered by his surroundings with people or other animals walking past the fence however, he quickly stops when asked. Flint is great with kids and loves interacting with them, he also loves playing with other dogs.

Flint will also need to be with a family who will understand that he may take a little bit longer to learn new skills but he is a good boy who tries his best and he definitely will master them with some continued training. He will need to continue his training and practising his already learnt commands to ensure he retains them. Flint is also an active boy who will need humans who are dedicated to ensuring that he gets plenty of exercise and cuddles, and who will provide him with sufficient mental stimulation to keep him busy. This goofball is ready to put a smile on your face everyday if you let him and will love you forever and always.
