The beautiful Sundance Kid (Sunny) is now seeking her forever home
She is a beautiful 4 ½ month old kelpie x
current weight 14 kilos
We think she will possibly grown to a large size med size dog
Sunny came to us as a very unsure and timid girl. With gentle encouragement and help from her foster sister she has learnt that trusting humans can bring so much joy into your life. She is a very happy and playful girl now but will need time and patience to adjust to her new surroundings.
Sundance Kid
Sunny is a very well behaved, snuggly young girl. She is always happy to see those that she knows and will happily receive all the love you want to give her. She likes to know where her humans or four legged friends are. We think she is a gorgeous girl with looks and personality, she is such a pleasure to have around. She has a beautiful shiny coat and haven’t noticed any sheading. She greets visitors enthusiastically, after a little bark to alert you that someone is at the door.
OBEDIENCE
Sunny is a typical puppy but loves to just lazy around with the family too. She knows how to sit for her dinner and treats, and is learning to sit before crossing the road while on walks. She loves playing with our dog and shares the toys very well. Loves playing tug of war with the dog! Sunny enjoys playing and spending time with our kids, when she’s not playing she wants to snuggle up next to you on the couch. If Sunny can not find her doggy toys she will search for something to play with, shoes seem to be her favourite!
She’s not quite sure of her name yet so doesn’t always come when called.
ENRICHMENT
While Sunny is a Kelpie X she doesn’t appear to have the energy of a kelpie or a typical puppy, much preferring to lazy around. She does enjoy shorts, bursts of energy and play, she enjoys playing with balls independently. While she is just learning to walk on a lead she appears to enjoy getting out and taking in the smells.
SLEEPING
She loves her sleep, once asleep not much can wake her until she is ready to get up. She generally sleeps through the night, heading to the toilet using the doggy door when she needs to but would learn toileting before bed quickly! She adores her bed, but loves to snooze on the couch as well.
SOCIALISATION
Sunny’s foster family consists of a female kelpie and 2 cats. She adores her foster doggy sister and has learnt so much about being a dog from her. She plays very well with her, sometimes forgetting their surroundings. She is curious about the resident cats and will attempt to play but listens when they say no. She does enjoy cuddling up next to one of the cats at night while the humans watch TV. She has met a few dogs on her walks with us and approaches with playful puppy curiosity.
Sunny as true to the kelpie breed can get a little nippy when excited so we feel a home with young or inexperienced children is not ideal
FOOD
She has two feeds a day, breakfast being a smaller meal. She has no food aggression whatsoever. Happily swapping bowls with the resident dog no matter whose decision it is.
IDEAL HOME
Adoption criteria
Please do not apply if you do not meet the criteria to avoid disappointment
We feel that Sunny would thrive in a home with a family that is very inclusive and allows her to be inside and apart of the family. She will need primary school age children and up as she can be a little nippy while playing.
As she has shown much confidence having a K9 companion to help her grow so we are seeking a home with a male dog ( not small breed) that is loving and kind and can nurture her while she matures
A family that are prepared to continue with her training including confidence on lead
