About Nugget
Hi! I'm Nugget and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR NUGGET
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/3HnbufRFrTm19A8JA
Please DO NOT apply if you reside in a lockdown area (Sydney / Wollongong) as you MUST come to the shelter to meet him if your application is successful.
The application process can take up to 2 weeks so please allow this much time for us to get in contact with you regarding whether you have been successful or not.
If you have made it through the first round, we may contact you by phone for more information.
NOTE: You are unable to meet Nugget until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Nugget in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate who is my size may be ok but I will try to dominate medium/large dogs and that may not end well for me with my macho attitude. Although, I would be just has happy being the only dog in the family and getting all of your love for myself.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• Lots of love and attention
• No young children due to my past behaviour (see below)
• Being a social and playful pupper I would love to go to doggy daycare where I can run around and play with other little doggos.
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• I appeared scared of cats when meeting them at the shelter however once my confidence around them grows I might be more inquisitive. If going to a home with a cat they must be dog savvy and we must be introduced slowly.
• I showed no interest in rabbits, ducks or roosters here at the shelter so I may be ok to go to a home with them.
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
My best features:
• Very playful
• Wiggle butt
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Social butterfly
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet
• I can be a bit erratic on the lead - training and walking me in a halti or harness may stop this
• I may show signs of anxiety when I'm left alone in the backyard. Leaving me some enrichment toys/treats may help this.
Past History:
• We've been told that Nugget used to hang around the local hospital and would chase people and try to nip their ankles. We haven't seen any behaviour like that here at the shelter but it needs to be taken into consideration if you're interested in adopting Nugget.
