About Blue
Blue is a chilled guy. He has a beautiful shiny grey coat with adorable white fringed ears. A cute white patch on his chest and a couple of white toes. Dreamy hazel eyes that follow your every move. He gets a lot of attention when he’s out and about!
Blue is happy in his home to snooze the day away providing he gets his two 20 to 30 minutes walks.
He is OK to be left a few hours alone if you prepare him. He needs to have had a good walk, some yummy tucker and a puzzle for him to solve when you go. Maybe a Kong toy with peanut butter or another hidden treat he needs to sniff out.
Blue loves to hoard, so he will collect various items such as shoes and umbrellas to bring back to his bed. Nothing will be chewed but he is very proud of his treasured collection. He is polite with food and very happy to supervise his dinner being prepared and you are able to take food away from him.
Blue is still learning to understand other dogs that don’t look or behave like him. This is a common journey for rescued greyhounds. He will need a home in a quieter neighbouhood with not too many other dogs to encounter.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
