About Tessie
Tessie has made leaps and bounds in foster care and is learning how to be part of a family for the first time. Initially she was quite wary of her foster siblings, an older greyhound and a vizsla puppy, but now happily snoozes on the couch with them or goes on adventures in the car. The first five years of Tessie's life she lived outside on her own. Her owners had four children whom she loved and was incredibly patient with. Tessie would suit someone who has time to spend with her such as a retiree, someone who works from home, or an active family with kids. However she is happy to sleep on the couch while you are away.
Tessie's adopter must have experience with dogs and continue to be willing to teach her about the world. She is scared of strangers (particularly men) but warms to individuals with time.
Tessie is good with cats and would be happy as an only dog or with another calm and confident dog or two. She must be an inside dog who will be allowed to be the couch potato she is. While she is an active dog, Tessie is happy with a half hour walk or run once a day. She walks beautifully on lead and is working on her recall and other commands. She is quiet, non destructive, and calm.
While Tessie is not a beginner dog, but she is a fast learner who is eager to please and easy to work with.
She would also be a great running partner as she doesn't try to trip you over.

Adoption details
Firstly you will need to complete an application with your name and address and contact details for the microchip records. Our online application form is available on our website https://radarescue.org/adoption
Or an application form can be requested by using the Email Carer feature on the pet's listing.
Please note that while we consider all applications in the order in which we receive them, our animals are not adopted out on a first come, first served basis. Our objective is to ensure that our animals are adopted into the most suitable ‘forever’ home available to meet the animal's (and the person’s) characteristics and needs.
The final decision about which new home the animal goes to is made by the foster carer based on their knowledge and understanding of the potential home and the personality of the individual animal. Sometimes it may take several enquiries before you find the right RADAR furry friend for you!
We will need a non-refundable holding deposit of $50 minimum to hold a pet for you whilst awaiting everything to be finalised, however this amount is deducted from the adoption fee.
RADAR expects full payment on exchange of the pet or prior to it leaving on transport.
RADAR expects you to be responsible for transport costs. We can help source appropriate transport options or help find accommodation if you need to travel and stay overnight.
It is understood that if all goes wrong that you can return the pet safely and unharmed to RADAR for a full refund within two weeks of the adoption.
