About Rex
Please meet Rex!
This adorable teenager is an absolute sweetheart! He loves nothing more than love and attention from his special people and all of his canine friends.
Rex takes a little time to settle in a new environment. But once he's comfortable, this guy is a friendly, happy go lucky, adventurous dog who is full of love and does not have a mean bone in his body!
Rex is very smart and has learned the commands of “sit”, “lay down” and “look at me” before he takes a treat. He takes the treat very gently out of your hand and does not snatch. He shows no sign of aggression around food.
Rex is a sensitive dog and can be hesitant in new situations - he would therefore do well with an owner with large dog breed experience, who is a firm but kind leader and who won’t pander to his nervousness, but will instead show him through body language and a calm voice that there is nothing to worry about. Rex loves kids and would be very happy going to a home with children of primary school age.
He is well socialised with confident cats and while he is always interested in what they are doing, he is easily called away from them and shows no aggression. He would be able to live with a dog-savvy feline friend or two in his new home.
Rex is extremely well behaved around other dogs - he plays endless rough and tumble wrestling games with his foster sisters who are a Great Dane and a mastiff pup, but he also knows how to behave politely around his older and grumpier cattle-dog foster brother.
**Rex needs to go to a home with an existing desexed female dog with similar energy levels to him (not a senior girl) and will be happy to join in on his antics. He is still gaining his confidence and will love having a confident dog around him to guide him when he is unsure.
On walks, Rex does well on lead but is still young and clumsy and often tangles himself up, especially when he’s focussing on something else. When he is off lead, he never wanders far from you and constantly checks in. He has great recall which gets better by the day - most times he’ll return to you and sit straight down waiting for your approval.
Rex is fully toilet trained and currently sleeps inside at night. He has not had a single toileting accident overnight. Once he has settled you won’t hear from him until morning. Rex has always been allowed to sleep inside where he feels safe and secure. This will be very important for him to feel comfortable and 'at home' in his new environment.
Rex is not destructive at all and has shown no signs of digging, ripping up garden plants or pulling washing off the line. He absolutely loves car trips and has been known to jump into visitors’ cars when they open their door to leave. He travels well in the car and would love a home where he is taken out on many adventures.
A few months back, Rex came to his foster mum with a limp. He was taken for Xrays where we were told that Rex had suffered a knee injury from which, he has made a full recovery. We were told the Xrays also showed that Rex had mild hip dysplasia. This was monitored and after some time, he was taken to another vet for a second opinion. At this consult, we were told that there was no evidence of dysplasia. They explained that although they don't believe there is dysplasia, the body can compensate and strengthen the ligaments and tissues around the area to hold it in place. There may be some signs of arthritis as he gets older which would be manageable and that Rex was expected to live a full, happy and healthy life.
We are happy to pass on all of the information we have.
This adorable boy is a great all rounder dog for friendship, loyalty and adventure and in the right home, he will grow into a delightful companion dog for his new family.

If you have a happy home where Rex would be a great match, we look forward to hearing from you.

Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
