Darius is an absolutely gorgeous goofball who loves to play play play. He adores other dogs of all sizes, but is very exuberant in trying to entice them to play chasey. He paws, he bounces, he playnips, he steals their toy... Anything he can to get them to do zoomies with him. He tries to invite the resident cats to play in the same manner, much to their disgust. He doesn't really understand how to read doggy language, any type of attention they give him he thinks is a game, so really needs to learn boundaries and how to contain his excitement. He can be quite annoying about initiating games.

He is essentially a big puppy, but so intelligent and will learn quickly with the right teacher. He will happily occupy himself with toys, pulling his bed and blankets out and finding a good stick to chew when left by himself. He would be happiest with a canine playmate if left for extended hours, but could also be ok on his own if his people are in and out - and if he gets regular social time with other playful dogs. This does not mean a dog park, as they are too unpredictable and not recommended.

After his energy needs have been met Darius loves a good snuggle, even though he is 20kg he thinks he is a lapdog. It was clear he had never been inside prior to arriving into care but he has adapted quite well, just needs some further help with his toilet training.

Darius could suit a range of homes, so the things he is looking for most are commitment to helping him become the best boy he can be, an environment where he will be included as a true family member and ongoing activities that will be a good outlet for his energy.

This scruffmuffin is so easy to love and his zest for life and happiness are contagious. He will brighten up your everyday with his antics and smoochiness. He is very much monkey see monkey do, so a canine role model would be great for him to learn from.
