About Bandit
đș ONE EYED BANDIT đș
Meet Bandit, a shy but lovely boy who is looking for a quiet home where he can settle in. Bandit has had a sad start to his life, being rescued from a street where a colony of more than 40 cats and kittens lived. He was lucky enough to have some people feeding him and his family, but sadly they werenât able to provide him with medical care. Bandit was quickly seen by our vets who gave us the sad news that he would be needing an eye removed from a previous trauma. Bandit has adjusted well to his new life as a pirate cat, which was an easy transition having no sight in that eye previously. Bandit was progressing very well in his foster home until he developed a skin condition which has undone a lot of hard work in gaining his trust, due to bathing and medicating which has been setting him back. Even through all of this stress, Bandit has remained somewhat trusting of his foster family and is happy to join in the family room for some TV (and a few sneaky snacks at dinner time!). He is quite happy to watch you move about, but is still warming to people approaching him for a pat. Bandit can be cuddled on the couch which is a bit worrying for him, but does help him to build a relationship with his carers.
Bandit is suited to a quieter home with older children. He is very cat social and is comfortable living with relaxed dogs as long as slow introductions are done at a pace he is comfortable with.
All adult cats are sent to potential new homes on a one to two week trial after an initial meet and greet before finalising adoption. While adult cats do take longer than this to settle into a new home, it allows a chance to see how the cat is coping with the new environment. Due to his timid nature, Bandit is not available for a meet and greet as he will likely hide away under couches and beds. We are happy to extend his trial period and provide support in transitioning timid cats to new homes.
Name: Bandit MC00374
Age: 1.5 years
Suburb: Aveley
Adoption Fee: $160
The adoption fee includes sterilisation, microchip, up to date vaccinations and parasite treatment.
Medical Note: Bandit was exposed to a widespread disease commonly known as Cat Flu (Feline Herpes Virus). Bandit showed mild signs of illness, was treated, and recovered well. This virus is a common respiratory disease in cats and varies in severity. The virus usually attacks the respiratory tract (nasal passages and lungs), eyes, or both. Signs of illness may or may not develop again over time and veterinary treatment might be required. As usual, regular vaccinations are important to protect Bandit and other cats within the same living space should be up to date with vaccination.
Important note: Bandit has had an enucleation due to sustaining a previous untreatable trauma to the eye. One eyed cats are at a disadvantage with their limited vision and are at greater risk of injury. Because of this, one eyed cats should be kept indoors and confined to a secure cat run.
If you would like to arrange a trial period with Bandit, please fill in the adoption application: https://madcattersinc.formstack.com/forms/adoption_application or email madcattersrescue@outlook.com.au
