About Bear
Hi! I’m Bear and I’m looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR BEAR
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/UWoRM8mJcDU89wYSA
NOTE: You are unable to meet Bear until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Bear in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
Unsure and weary of unfamiliar men and some woman at first so a family that will use positive reinforcement when meeting strangers and a family that will understand my boundaries is a must!
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I have lots of energy so an active family is a must
• Someone who is home often as when left alone I tend to become destructive so will need company and/or to be left with lots of toys/food to keep me occupied.
Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & livestock
• I need a nice quiet home with no young children (under 12 years), so I can have whatever time I need to get used to my new home and learn that I'm safe and loved
My best features:
• Very playful
• Highly food motivated
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• Happy to hang out with other dogs
• I LOVE toys, playing fetch and a game of tug-o-war
• Housetrained and used to being allowed inside
• I love toys especially my ball, playing fetch and tug rop
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I love my food & toys so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
.When left along I can become destructive so leaving me with lots of toys and enrichment is very important, also a family that is home often would make me feel at ease.
• I am fearful of vets so further desensitising will help this.
