About Gus ~ 10mo Boxer X (on trial 20/7/21)
Say hi to this handsome boy, Gus, who is looking for his forever home. He is a 10 month old Boxer X Mixed Breed, aka big loveable boof head.
Gus has always been a part of a loving family but it was not until he arrived into foster care that he has learnt that he’s not the boss of the house. His foster parents have been teaching him basic household manners, toilet etiquette, how to walk on a lead and basic recall. He has made big improvements but it’s important that this training continues to be a part of his daily routine. Gus is intelligent and food-orientated so as long as you’ve got treats handy, he’ll respond.
Gus is still a puppy and weighing in at 30kg, he likes to think he can still fit on your lap for a cuddle on the couch! Gus is a very affectionate and playful boy. His favourite game is tug of war, followed closely by chew toys. Gus has improved tremendously on a lead since coming into care and he loves going for long walks where he can follow his nose. Gus is a curious boy who loves exploring his surroundings.
Gus is living with three other dogs and he gets along with them all very well. He’s untested with cats. Due to Gus’s size and energy levels he is more suited to an adult only household or with teenage children. He could be in a home with an older, patient dog who could show his the ropes (and handle his energy!) or he could be an only dog. Gus needs a home where he will be allowed to hang inside with his family but he will be okay if left outside whilst no one is home.
Gus knows how to turn on the ‘puppy eyes’ when he wants something from you or he’s being naughty. You’ll fall for it once or twice but it’s important that his new family is consistent and firm with his training. Gus has almost no recall when distracted so he will need to be on a lead or in a fully fenced park when outside of his home for now.
Gus is untested with thunderstorms and fireworks but given his nature it may be an issue for him.
With the right amount of love, care and attention there’s not doubt Gus is going to make a great addition to a family. If you are looking for a loving and cheeky over-sized lap dog and you have the time and commitment to give this puppy, please contact Ash at ash.drn@hotmail.com or fill in in an adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Gus is located near Mayfield, Newcastle. Interstate adoption will be considered on a case by case basis against other applicants. He is desexed and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worming. Gus’s adoption fee is $500.
