About Ruff
Ruff is the friendliest boy, a lover of humans and enjoys meeting new people. He adores riding in the car, playing fetch and going for walks but above all, he cherishes his humans the most, Ruff will often centre his daily activities around his humans, ensuring that much of his time is spent next to or around them. Whether he is going for a walk or chilling on the couch, Ruff is happiest when he is with you. He is a giant cuddle buddy, enjoying giving and receiving lots of cuddles (sometimes snuggles) throughout the day. As long as Ruff can show you how much love he has for you in his heart he is content that he has done his job for the day. Ruff is great with all people including children and loves interacting with them. He is a tug-of-war champ and will gladly boast his skills to any oncoming challengers trying to take a shot at his title. Ruff is just a gigantic softie who loves his humans dearly.
Ruff is a fast learner who has quickly mastered his ‘sit’ command and is busy working on his other basic commands. He has mostly learnt his ‘off’, ‘drop it’ and ‘no’ commands, soon he will begin the practising stage in his training. Ruff is a very well mannered and polite boy, he knows his proper etiquette and refrains from jumping up on people. He knows how to shake and gives a great handshake for all important business deals. Ruff will need to go to a home where he will continue to practise his commands with lots of positive reinforcement to help him perfect them. He will also need to continue to learn new commands as he is a smart cookie who loves learning new things. With his love of learning comes his love of exploring, he adores his walks so he can get out into the world and discover lots of new things. He will need daily walks and a secure fence as he has been known to escape to go exploring (but he always comes back home…once his appetite for exploring has been fulfilled). Ruff walks well on a lead and has not been known to pull on the lead very often however, sometimes he can get a bit too excited with new smells and tug a little. He is a quiet boy who rarely barks. Ruff prefers a quiet environment and does not like loud noises, so a home with little noise would be preferable for him.
Ruff will need to have lots of toys to keep him entertained and would prefer to live in a household where he has someone with him all day (but this is not required). He will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep him busy so he doesn’t wander off. Ruff would greatly benefit from having another dog in the house to play with as he loves his canine friends dearly. Food and Ruff go together like peanut butter and jelly… he just loves the stuff, can't get enough of it. When it comes to his training he is very responsive once food has been brought into the deal. Ruff is formally untested with cats but will bark at them through a door. Ruff is a family guy and a gentleman who would make a perfect addition to any home.
Adoption details
MEET & GREET
We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and if a dog, to also introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don't expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.
ADOPTION AGREEMENT
At CQASI our animals future is paramount and we want to see them put into their forever homes. Every detail on our agreement is used to ensure your home is suitable for a new addition, that you agree to the terms and conditions and we also use some of the info for owner transfer after the adoption trial period (mentioned further down)
HOME/YARD CHECK
All our cats are indoor/outdoor enclosure only so all house checks are done when your feline friend is being dropped off to join your household. If the barking variety is what you are looking at adding to your home then one of our volunteers will contact you to arrange a day/time for a yard check. This is to check your fencing is suitable, see where your new canine will be sleeping and just get a general feel for the home they will be going to. All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.
ADOPTION FEE
Adoption fee is to be paid prior to collecting your new family member. The adoption fee is used to cover the vet work your new addition received. This includes - but is not limited to Desexing, vaccination/s, microchipping, parasite treatment/prevention (heart worm testing for dogs only).
TWO WEEK TRIAL
All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you wanted then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.
Our aim is a beautiful goodbye into their new home. We treat any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one concern.
