About Beets
BEETS
~Affectionate, brave and outgoing ~
Beautiful Beets is looking for his forever family! Before enquiring about him, please read his whole profile carefully to help ensure we find the perfect match for Beets and for you!
Is Beets the right cat for you?
Beets LOVES his people. He is the sweetest little guy and it is critical that, in the beginning, he is given the time, space and gentle encouragement he needs to feel safe and secure in his new surroundings. He spent his first six weeks of life in the backyard of a very kind stranger, who found that a stray cat had chosen to raise her babies in her veggie patch.
He didn’t have any contact with humans until he was six weeks old, so whilst he has an affectionate, brave and outgoing temperament, adjusting to new people, pets and surroundings may take a little while. He might not be ready to be picked up and cuddled right away – he likes to play a bit of hide-and-seek and hang out with you at arm’s length until he’s good to go.
Beets will be a family man for sure.
At this stage, however, he needs a family without young children. He finds toddlers and pre-schoolers a little loud and the enthusiastic love they have to share a bit too much to handle! Any children of primary school-age will need to be able to understand and respect his boundaries until he is his perky, adorable little self in his new home. Once you gain Beets’ trust, you’ll have a playmate and friend for life!
Beets enjoys wandering around with his foster siblings, including our two very large dogs and two resident adult cats. However, our dogs are highly-trained and have never been allowed to chase, pounce on or knock him around. Beets is physically quite small and has a more submissive nature than his brothers, so will not suit a home with an overly-excitable doggo who may chase him or unintentionally cause him injury.
Are you still keen on this gorgeous boy?
Here’s a bit about his gorgeous personality!
Beets has been the bearer of most of the ‘firsts’ amongst his brothers and sisters. He was the first to poke his cheeky little face out from ‘beneath the blankets’ to check out his surroundings. The first to strut across our legs as we sat for hours each day, still and silent as statues, trying to gain the trust of this little family. The first to cotton on to the fact that hands meant treats, and also brought about the flying feathers and wiggly toys he so loves to pounce at.
Fast forward two months, and Beets has taken out the award for Most Affectionate. He enjoys giving head-bumps to his people and his siblings, greeting us as we arrive and unzip the enclosure door, and cuddling up in blankets on our laps. He is also into EVERYTHING and has discovered the joys of dashing madly around the house and over/under every piece of furniture.
Beets enjoys gentle scratches on the side of his chin, being the first one cuddled in the mornings, playing with feather toys and clothes pegs, and chasing his siblings over and under the furniture. He dislikes minding his own business, having to go back into his enclosure at bedtime, and sharing the cushion closest to the fireplace.
Finally, Beets is a soulful, pretty little guy with a HUGE personality. He has a pink nose and pink tip on one ear, so this will need to be protected in the hotter, sunnier months. He could easily be rehomed by himself or with a sibling, and go to a pet-free home or one with existing pets (slow and safe introductions are critical, of course). If you’re after an adventurous, affectionate (and very endearing!) little man to be your best friend, Beets could be your perfect match!
Medical notes
Beets is perfectly healthy, has been wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed.
