About Nettle
Nettle, “The People’s Cat”, is looking for his forever family! Before enquiring about him, please read his whole profile carefully to help us ensure a perfect match for him and for you!
Is Nettle the right cat for you?
Nettle 100% loves his human and canine foster family. Wherever we are, he is. Sometimes his siblings will be fast asleep in their cat tree while Nettle chills out with us on the couch! However, like all foster babies, it is critical that he is given the time, space and gentle encouragement he needs to feel safe and secure in his new surroundings. For a bit of context, Nettle spent his first six weeks of life in the backyard of a very kind stranger, who found that a stray cat had chosen to raise her babies in her veggie patch.
He didn’t have any contact with humans until he was six weeks old, so whilst he has the most gorgeous temperament and is super confident, it may take a little while for him to show you this in a new environment. He might not be ready for you to pick up and cuddle right away, but the wait will be worth it. This guy gives great head-boops and nose kisses.
At this stage, Nettle needs a family without young children. He finds toddlers and pre-schoolers a little loud and the enthusiastic love they have to share a bit too much to handle! Any children of primary school-age will need to be able to understand and respect Nettle’s boundaries until he is his outgoing, joyful self in his new home. Once Nettle feels at home, he will be a beautiful friend and quite the little shadow!
Nettle loves the company of his foster siblings, including our two very large dogs and two resident adult cats. However, our dogs are highly-trained and have never been allowed to chase, pounce on or knock him around. Nettle is like the child in the playground who will approach bigger kids and join in on their play, with no idea that he could be hurt unintentionally. We would love to see Nettle in a home with other pets, but the overly-excited type doggoes who really can’t resist chasing the cat won’t be suitable siblings for him. With the right dog or existing cat, and slow, careful introductions, we have no doubt Nettle will be inviting himself into their beds, as well as yours.
Does the idea of Nettle still make you smile?
Read on to learn a bit about The People’s Cat!
Nettle has always been one of the more outgoing kittens in the litter, but only recently realised the joys of pats and gentle scratches! It is now impossible to approach or enter the kitten enclosure without Nettle climbing up the wall to meet you, purring like a machine all the while and attempting head-bumps and body slams against the netting.
Nettle is a big, dashing boy with such gymnastic talent! He has been seen performing 360s off the side of his enclosure, as well as climbing upside-down across its ceiling. An active young man, he loves free time out in the house, during which he engages in extreme sports from the top of the couch or from one end of the hallway to the other (and back again, x 10). Nettle’s antics keep us laughing and his siblings on their toes!
Now to his interests.
Nettle’s hobbies include thundering up and down the hallway with his big feet, launching off furniture and walls parkour-style, and being cuddled. He dislikes having to share his treats (and will hold your hand close to him to avoid such situations), and can also give us a run for our money when he doesn’t think free time should be over!
In summary, Nettle is an absolute delight who has won the hearts of every member of our family. He has a pink nose, so this will need to be protected in the hotter, sunnier months. He could easily be rehomed by himself or with a sibling, and go to a pet-free home or one with existing pets (slow and safe introductions are critical, of course). If you’re after an active, loving, cool-as-a-cucumber kitten to join your family, Nettle will change your world
Medical notes
Nettle comes healthy, completely wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed.
