Boof

Boof (m/2 yrs) – Needs an experienced Carer ASAP!

Boof is a very special case - please read carefully!

We became aware of Boof end of last year as he was surrendered to our rescue. As puppy he was badly attacked by a hunting dog and although the physical scars healed, the mental ones were still there. To make matters worse, due to the Covid lockdown he was not socialised with other dogs.

He did show some anxiety and reactivity. Long story short, we found a foster carer for him and all went well, they adopted him.

Fast forward - last week the adopters of Boof contacted us and said that about 1 month ago he changed. We still haven't found out what happened, but he got very restless when indoors and runs through the house nonstop. For this reason he was then locked outside. On walks he started barking at other dogs although he seemed to have been fine before.

Today he needed to see the vet for a cough he developed and on his way home his owner had him on a lead and as he pulled on the lead he growled at him and snapped in his direction.

We could convince the owner - for now - that we really would like to take the dog on and have him checked for a medical reason that caused this behaviour change. We were told - one more time he growls or snaps he will go to the vet for euthanasia.

We are now looking for a very special place for Boof. Someone that is really experienced with dogs and willing to provide Boof with a home so that we can get to the bottom of what is going on.
