√ older child friendly
√ dog friendly
x no cats
* 5-6ft fences required
So you’re looking for a cute little pup? Let me tell you about me:
I get on well with my foster dog buddy and would love a doggy friend to play with in my new home, preferably a calm, friendly dog of a similar size or larger, and preferably male.
I have not met cats yet – I’ve seen one across the street though, and if I hadn’t been on lead I probably would have chased it, too.
I would like to be included in the family. I would also prefer someone home a little more often, especially while I still get used to them. I am a bit scared of strangers, especially many of them at the same time. If you spend some time with me, and I get to know you, I will come out of my shell. I think I like children (I like that they are shorter), but they have to be calm, a bit older and used to dogs.
I am also very inquisitive - I have checked out the vacuum cleaner and the broom and they did not scare me that much, I just find them...odd?
My energy level is medium, I don’t need a whole lot of running around, but I LOVE playing, especially tug. I also enjoy puzzle toys (you may have to help me solve them the first couple of times) and enrichment activities, where I get to sniff out my food.
I’m very clever - I’ve learnt sit quite quickly and currently I’m learning to stay on my bed. I know my name and I usually come when called.
Having a reasonably sized yard that I can potter around in would be great, because I still get a bit overwhelmed out on walks. I’d find dog parks too much as well. I would do well with some further training on the lead and to build my confidence.
I am quite bouncy and can jump up on tables and counters without problems (I’m learning not to, though). Given this talent, 5-6 foot fencing would be required.
At night I am sleeping in a crate and fuss a bit at first, but once I settle I usually sleep soundly through the night. I am usually ok with going to the toilet, but when I get nervous and anxious my belly sometimes gets upset and I can have some accidents.
My ideal foster family would continue my training, play with me regularly (especially…you know it: TUG!!!) and give me mental stimulation, too. Setting boundaries and sticking to them is going to help me feel more secure and gain more confidence.
