About Charlie(2yr Chihuahua Cross)&Emma (29/08/21)
Meet the two unlikely best friends Emma and Charlie. This beautiful bonded pair are everything you need to complete your fur-baby family. Having lived together for most of their lives, they love each other to pieces and will need to be rehomed together.
Emma and Charlie love to play together, spoon each other during naptime and give each other lots of kisses. They never fight, always share their food and take lots of comfort in each other’s company. They have shown their foster mums they are not destructive when left inside for short periods of time and they are both house trained, although Charlie may have some accidents for the first few weeks in a new home while he is settling in and feeling a little anxious. They will happily spend time outside and are not prone to jumping/ escaping, but would like to be welcomed inside (especially of a night time).
Emma is a 2 Y.O Staffy X who loves nothing more than to greet you with a big smile and sloppy kisses at the door. Emma is a gentle soul who will give you cuddles on the couch but is also happy to take herself off to her own bed with her favourite chew toy. She loves to play fetch, run around in the backyard and chew on her chew toys. Emma also loves the water and would love to be able to swim at the beach or lakes. Emma knows basic commands and can sit, stay, come and lay down. She walks moderately well on the lead but can be over excited at times and needs a strong arm to reign her in. Emma needs regular walks to prevent boredom and will often sleep for long periods of the day if exercised regularly.
Charlie is a 2 Y.O Chihuahua X. A typical lap dog, Charlie loves nothing more than curling up next to you for endless pats and cuddles. Charlie takes his time to get to know new people. Once you have gained his trust he will show you unconditional love. Also typical of his breed, Charlie can be protective of his home and his humans and may bark at unfamiliar faces and dogs. His antics, however, are adorable and he has learned to smile and jumps like a clown to play with you.
When going on walks, they can both be reactive to other dogs, so it is best to give them a wide berth and encourage them to keep walking. Emma can be strong on the lead, but we have found that walking them separately can be helpful, being walked together seems to turn into a competition of who goes first, but separately they both walk more calmly with less pulling. Emma & Charlie aren’t the kind of dogs to be let off lead for social interaction with other dogs. They tend to prefer the company of humans and each other. Any interactions with new dogs would need to be very slow and in a controlled environment. Emma & Charlie would benefit from a new family who will set boundaries for them, with a relatively structured routine.
They are both in good health, don’t require much grooming and are quite low- medium energy and maintenance. Both are desexed, with vaccinations and worming up to date. Both Charlie and Emma need a home where they will be the only dogs. They would love nothing more than to become part of the family and would be best suited to a home without small children, cats or other small animals. They have both proved well with older children though (12, 13, 14) and Emma really comes out of her shell and absolutely loves games like chasey, piggy in the middle and tug o war. Charlie will try to join in but then get bored and go and find a comfy lap to snuggle on while Emma and the children play. Having access to a doggy door would be ideal for them, and being allowed inside at night time to sleep.
Their adoption fee is $1050, and they are located in the Glendale area NSW (Suburb of Newcastle NSW) . To enquire about this dynamic duo, email kerinpond@gmail.com
