About Mia
Based in Horsham Rural Victoria
Mia the Great Dane x Ridgeback that is deaf is looking for a special home where she can be someone's co-pilot in life.
Mia is a 50kg Goofball that has had it tough lately. She found herself in the pound after constantly getting out of her owners property. Mia was placed in foster care but unfortunately got hit and run over by a car as she did not hear it coming. This has resulted in Mia having a fracture in her pelvis. Unfortunately Mia has another few months of restricted activity before vets would be happy to say she has fully recovered. Mia needs to remain on lead at all times and cannot play with other dogs or run off lead.
Mia is a beautiful girl that needs a special home. She loves to be around her people and be an inside girl. Mia has been good with other dogs but can not currently have any activity with them due to her injury. Mia is in foster care with cats also and is not phased by them.
The type of home Mia needs is;
# Indoor life due to her colouring
# Someone home a significant amount of time. Mia likes to have people around.
# Someone with experience and understanding of deaf dogs.
# Someone equipped and prepared to keep Mia quiet for another 6 months to help her fully recover from her fractured pelvis.
Mia has a beautiful and goofball nature but can take a little while to warm up to new people. Mia thinks she is a lap dog still.
Medical notes
Mia is still recovering from a fractured pelvis and needs to be kept quiet and restricted exercise for another 6 months to fully recover.
Adoption details
We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
Please note we are a small group of volunteers that balances the administrative side with the care of the animals.
Please only apply for one of our animals if you are genuinely interested in them.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
