About Milton ~ 8yr Old Labrador(On Trial 18/09/21)
Hi, I'm Milton, a chocolate Labrador. My foster family says I'm the sweetest and most loving dog. I'm gentle, I do not jump, I'm toilet trained and use doggie door to go outside when I need to. I know how to sit, stay, shake and wait. I love all humans, and usually get all the cuddles and snuggles as everyone tells me that I'm the sweetest boy. When at home, I love following my mum around or just sit and watch my foster family. I'm not very interested in my fur siblings and more focused on my humans. Milton would love to be the only dog soaking up all the love and attention.
Milton is an active boy and loves his walks, he's currently walked twice a day for about 30-40 mins. Milton can be left alone, he's happy to sit and relax while his parents go to work, he doesn't get up to anything naughty while he's at home alone. Milton will bark (he's very loud), when he hears unfamiliar sounds or someone at the door. He is not suitable to apartment living and needs access to the yard.
We don't believe that Milton was walked or socialised by the previous family so he's very lead reactive and pulls on lead. Milton will need a strong person to walk him as he is very strong. Milton will require ongoing training and commitment to improve his lead manners and reactivity on walks. Milton is not a dog that you can take to the beach, dog park or dog friendly cafes but he does enjoy bushwalks and quiet walks around the neighbourhoods. Milton is very reactive to other dogs on lead when he's out for a walk. It will take time and commitment to improve his reactivity and lead walking manners. It is preferred for Milton to go to a home with rescue dog experience and understanding of his training needs, he's is not suited to a home with small children.
Milton currently lives with 10-year-old male pug and 5-year-old female foxy x cattle; he gets along really well with both of them. He seems to get along with dog when introduced in enclosed off lead environment. Milton has not shown any signs of food aggression. Milton loves to spend time with his family and must be included in activities, he will need a home where he is allowed inside. Milton is not tested with cats; he does not like them when he's out on the walks.
Milton sleeps inside in the laundry room, he is terrified of storms and has to be inside with his family during bad weather. He has a mixture of home cooked meals and Pro Balance diet. He needs a home where he is loved and included in the daily activities, Milton was a surrender due to high cost of emergency vet procedure.
Please only apply for Milton if you have experience with rescue dogs, have time to continue his training and can commit to giving him a loving home where he is part of the family. Milton is currently in foster care in Caves Beach, Lake Macquarie. Milton's adoption fee is $400 and includes desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping.
Please contact Maryana on maryana.stetsyuk@outlook.com if you have any questions. Due to Covid restrictions Milton is only available for adoption in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle or Sydney region
