About Pixie
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Trixie
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to us as an owner surrender.
BREED: Blue Heeler X (Australian Cattle Dog)
General breed traits: Affectionate, devoted and protective of family but can be wary of strangers. Usually attaches to one person and loves to be close. Very, high energy and highly intelligent - they love to have a job and if not mentally and physically worked enough they will be destructive. Bred to herd by nipping so is mouthy and will nip cattle, children, pets, cars, anything that moves. They have a strong prey drive with other small animals unless reared with them. Not for novice owners.
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, eager to please, confident, sensitive, protective, sweet and playful pretty much sums up this gorgeous girl. She can be a little shy or wary when meeting new people but soon settles once she receives reassurance and she realises that they are friendly. She is also a lovely size – very compact just under medium.
FAVOURITE THINGS: She loves to play with a ball. She brings it back to her person but doesn’t always drop it! She also loves soft or squeaky toys and has a favourite bunny which she adores. If another dog is playing with her toys she will try to take them back. She also loves to sleep wrapped up in a blanket with her legs in the air!
OTHER ANIMALS: She was initially unsure around other dogs but since being fostered with two dogs - one of which she adores - her confidence has grown greatly and she just loves to play all day. She has also lived with two young pups and just loved them as well. She did live with a cat when she was very young and has lived with cats while in foster care, so should be fine with a dog-savvy cat in her new home.
GENERAL INFO: Trixie walks well on the lead but can be easily distracted as everything is new to her. She will bark at unfamiliar noises and sometimes at strangers or other animals, but this is because she is unsure. She is housetrained and her command training is coming along nicely but she’d really benefit from ongoing training. She is still a pup and a bit of a chewer so she will need to be kept busy to stop this or be given really good chews that keep her occupied. She didn’t like to get in the car initially as it made her travel sick but this is improving and she is much happier now during car rides, and loves to stick her face out of the window. She’s a very sweet, affectionate, calm girl who is really smart and learns new things quickly. She’ll be the perfect best friend to her new owner and will bond quickly if she’s given plenty of affection and time. She loves the company of another dog and so we would like this girl to go to a home with another playful dog, preferably male.
ESSENTIALS:
• A calm home where someone is there for most of the day or can take her with them when they go out. She is still a pup and cannot be left for long periods or will dig and chew.
• Training is essential for this bright girl. Professional classes where she can socialize and learn new things. Trixie will need daily exercise – a good walk twice a day will keep her happy and healthy.
• Trixie needs a well fenced, large secure yard with grass and interesting things for her to sniff and explore. We would recommend that she doesn’t have access to a front yard as she will bark at passing foot traffic.
• Trixie needs to be allowed to be inside or out as she chooses, to sleep inside at night and be included as part of the family.
• She would go well with dog-savvy, gentle children over 8 years of age and we would really like her to live with another playful dog, preferably male.
If Trixie sounds like the perfect girl for you, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
